Effects of heat treatment on some properties of MDF (medium-density fiberboard)
Wood Material Science & Engineering, 2015AbstractThis work investigated some mechanical, physical and free formaldehyde emission properties of heat-treated MDF. For this purpose, MDF panels were subjected to varying heat treatment temperatures (155°C, 165°C and 175°C), durations (2.5 h., 3.5 h. and 4.5 h.) and waiting times after hot pressing (30 min., 120 min. and 600 min).

High frequency heating of medium density fiberboard (MDF): theory and experiment
Chemical Engineering Science, 2004Abstract Medium-density fiberboard (MDF) is a wood-based panel manufactured from wood fibers with a synthetic adhesive through the conduction of heat from the hot platens. One alternative is the use of high-frequency (HF) heating, which has the advantage of reducing the press cycle, the platens temperature and the post-curing time, with constancy of ...

Canola straw as a bio-waste resource for medium density fiberboard (MDF) manufacture
Waste Management, 2009Canola straw as an agricultural residue has been investigated for MDF production. The variables were steaming time (2, 5 and 8 min), the resin content (9% and 11%), and press time (4 and 6 min). Common physical and mechanical properties of experimental boards including modulus of rupture (MOR), modulus of elasticity (MOE), internal bond strength (IB ...

Optimization of the fabrication process for medium density fiberboard (MDF)-based biomimetic SiC
International Journal of Refractory Metals and Hard Materials, 2009The present work deals with improving the fabrication route for biomorphic SiC based upon artificial cellulosic precursors and, more specifically, upon medium density fiberboards (MDF), which are ideally suited for automation of the machining process.

Preliminary Study on Natural Villous Bamboo Fiber Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF)
Advanced Materials Research, 2010The natural villous bamboo fiber is a kind of debris that product in the process of natural bamboo fiber production. Using villous bamboo fiber to product MDF, bamboo resources can be fully used, and this can perfect the natural bamboo fiber production chain.

Changes of wettability of medium density fiberboard (MDF) treated with He-DBD plasma
Holzforschung, 2014Abstract The effects of two power levels (50 and 150 W) and five time levels (10, 20, 40, 60 and 120 s) of glow discharge in helium dielectric barrier discharge (He-DBD) has been investigated in the context of surface modification of medium density fiberboard (MDF) panels. He-DBD elevated the surface wettability of MDF panels as assessed

Abstract A mathematical model is presented that describes heat and moisture transfer during the hot-pressing of MDF. The model includes conduction of heat between the press platens and the central layer of the mattress, phase change of water from the adsorbed to the vapor state and the convective heat and mass transfer through the edges of the mattress.

Roughness of medium density fiberboards (MDF) by the contact and non-contact method
