A qualitative study of multiphase steel microstructure developed in four different steel alloys [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Mining and Metallurgy. Section B: Metallurgy
In this work, quench and partitioning (Q&P) heat treatment was performed on four different steel alloys in order to obtain multiphase steels with a microstructure of ferrite, martensite, bainite, and retained austenite.

Microsegregation and inclusion development during the casting of steel [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The enrichment of composition in the residual liquid during solidification is of itself an important parameter regarding the fitness for purpose of the alloy and, furthermore, will have a major influence on the precipitates and oxide inclusions that can ...

High Energy Density Asymmetric Aqueous Supercapacitor Based on a 2D Manganese Carbide as a Positive Electrode

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A circular route, involving upcycling of waste surgical masks, affords a Mn‐based layered carbide with porosity, redox activity and low work function. These features enable its effective operation as positive supercapacitor electrode in an aqueous asymmetric supercapacitor delivering 213 Wh L−1 energy density.

Influence of impact energy on work hardening ability of austenitic manganese steel and its mechanism [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
To further understand the hardening mechanism of austenitic manganese steel under actual working conditions, the work hardening ability was studied and the microstructures of austenitic manganese steel were observed under different impact energies.

Model fusion using fuzzy aggregation: Special applications to metal properties [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
To improve the modelling performance, one should either propose a new modelling methodology or make the best of existing models. In this paper, the study is concentrated on the latter solution, where a structure-free modelling paradigm is proposed.

Using Long‐Chain Polymechanophores to Explore the Differences in Mechanoactivation During Nozzle Flow and Ultrasonication

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Flow through a nozzle is a common component of most fluid‐based polymer processing techniques such as spray drying, inkjet printing, extrusion. An ultrahigh molecular weight multi‐mechanophore system is used to probe the differences in the distribution of mechanical activation observed between nozzle flow and ultrasonication; the gold standard ...

Preparation and properties of ZTA/alloyed high manganese steel composites

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology
In the long-term use of high manganese steels, it is not desirable to achieve wear resistance by austenite deformation strengthening alone. The wear resistance of high manganese steel is much lower than that of ordinary wear-resistant steel under medium ...

Plastic deformation wear in modified medium manganese steel

open access: yesChina Foundry, 2007
A medium manganese steel with high wear-resistance, strength and toughness has been produced with addition of a complex modifier (or refining agent) containing Nb, N, RE and Si-Ca. The results showed that the wear resistance, strength and toughness of the modified medium manganese steel are respectively 1.92 times, 1.45 times and 3.63 times as high as ...
