Current Treatment Options in Neurology, 2012
The mainstay of medulloblastoma treatment is high-quality interdisciplinary collaboration in diagnosis, treatment, and aftercare by all involved disciplines. The first step in treatment of medulloblastoma is a maximal safe surgery, followed by thorough staging.

Medulloblastoma is the most common malignant brain tumor in children. Patients with medulloblastoma are stratified into ‘‘standard’’ and ‘‘high’’ risk categories based on age at diagnosis, degree of surgical resection, and disease spread. In children older than 3 years of age, the long-term survival can be achieved in approximately 85% of standard risk

51 medulloblastomas under 12 years of age were treated from 1966 through 1977. 50 patients underwent craniotomy and 39 of them completed postoperative radiation therapy. Surgical mortality rate of primary posterior fossa craniotomy was 8%. One year survival rate was 71.4%, 3 years 45.6% and 5 years 34.5%.

The ultrastructure of medulloblastomas
Acta Neuropathologica, 19709 medulloblastomas were investigated by electron microscopy. They all showed a rather unique histological and cytological structure. The cells were differently shaped, had in general many cytoplasmic processes and only few organells. Special differentiations which would have made tumour elements look like glial or neural cells were not observed when ...

MEDULLOBLASTOMA OF THE CEREBELLUM
Archives of Neurology And Psychiatry, 1949THE RESULTS of treatment of medulloblastoma of the cerebellum as reported in the literature have been uniformly depressing. 1 When Bailey and Cushing first segregated this neoplasm from the general group of gliomas, the average life expectancy for patients treated by operation alone was about seven months; the addition of postoperative irradiation ...

In children medulloblastoma is a commonly encountered posterior fossa midline tumour in which cystic degeneration is not uncommon. A cystic medulloblastoma without solid component has, however, not been described. We report a 12-year-old boy with a posterior fossa midline cystic lesion on CT with surgical and histological confirmation of the diagnosis.

Chemotheraphy of Medulloblastoma
Tumori Journal, 1968A combination of Vincristine, Cyclophosphamide and intrathecal Methotrexate has proved effective in obtaining a remission of a recurrent medulloblastoma metastatized to the spinal cord of a 5 years old boy. The remission has been lasting 4 months, before treatment switched again to radiotherapy.

A 9-day-old female presented with a large infra- and supratentorial medulloblastoma was treated by surgery, irradiation and chemotherapy. The infant suffered from vomit a few days after birth. She was hospitalized shortly thereafter, when head enlargement was noted. A CT scan taken on admission disclosed a large mass lesion in the cerebellum, extending

Medulloblastoma is the most common infratentorial malignant tumour under 15 years of age. In recent protocols, the patients are stratified for treatment in standard risk or high risk, according to the clinical variables as age, localized or disseminated disease, degree of surgical resection and more recently expected biological behaviour based on ...
