Desmoplastic Medulloblastoma

Desmoplastic medulloblastoma is a variety of the typical cerebellar tumor, characterized by distinctive clinical and morphological features. It usually occurs in adults, is localized in a lateral lobe and shows expansive rather than infiltrative patterns of growth with early leptomeningeal involvement.

ABSTRACT Brain tumors are the most common solid tumor malignancies in childhood, and among them, medulloblastoma occurs with the greatest frequency. Because medulloblastomas occur in the posterior fossa, the presenting symptoms often are vague complaints and diagnosis may be delayed.

Lipomatous medulloblastoma.

A case of cerebellar lipomatous medulloblastoma in a 55-year-old male subject, clinically presenting with signs of intracranial hemorrhage and cerebellar dysfunction, is described. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed an enhancing irregular vermian lesion invading the left cerebellar hemisphere.
