Malignant Teratoid Medulloepithelioma in an Adult

A 50-year-old man presented with a reddish, well-vascularized mass in the region of a nasal iridodialysis of his left eye, pushing the whole iris in this sector forwards; the mass had a pinkish, partly cystic appearance in the pupil. The tumour was transparent on diaphanoscopy.

Medulloepithelioma: Two unusual locations

Reported herein are two cases of medulloepithelioma (ME) occurring in very unusual locations. Case 1 involved a 44‐year‐old man who presented with leg pain and urinary incontinence. Spine magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) showed an enhancing epidural and intradural lumbosacral mass.

Neglected malignant medulloepithelioma of the eye

Intraocular medulloepithelioma is a rare tumor usually arising from the ciliary body and presenting in childhood. We recently managed a case of an advanced medulloepithelioma in a 45-year-old man that went untreated for several years. The patient had an exenteration after the tumor destroyed the eye and extended into the central nervous system.

Malignant Teratoid Medulloepithelioma in a Dog

A malignant teratoid medulloepithelioma that arose from the ciliary body was found in an adult Beagle. The anterior part contained relatively well-differentiated tumor cells, cartilage, and ganglion cells. These structures were interpreted as teratoid formations derived from the embryonic anlage of the medullary epithelium.

Castrated male of European cat, bastard, 16 month-old suffered from a grayish-pink tumour in the anterior chamber of the right eyeball in the course of last six months. After enucleation, the eye was examined by histology, immunohistochemistry (NSE, NPF, S-100 protein) and electronmicroscopy.
