Surface Swarms of Swimming Crab Megalopae At Curaçao (Decapoda, Brachyura)

Crustaceana, 1982
Mogliche Mechanismen,

Settlement Patterns of Brachyuran Megalopae in a Louisiana Estuary

Estuaries, 2001
Artificial substrate collectors were used to sample settled brachyuran megalopae in Terrebonne Bay, Louisiana, northern Gulf of Mexico. Three taxa,Callinectes sapidus, Uca spp., andRhithropanopeus harrisii, were the most common settlers. Settlement occurred almost year-round, although settlement densities were highest in late summer and early fall.

Transport of Scylla serrata megalopae at various densities and durations

Aquaculture, 2000
Abstract The optimal conditions for transport of Scylla serrata megalopae were determined. Loading densities of 50, 100 and 150 ind l −1 of hatchery-reared megalopae were studied over a 6-h simulated transport, including shaking. Survival immediately after transport was significantly higher at 50 ind l −1 (99.3±1.6%) (mean± x %) than at 100 (93.0±

Respiratory metabolism of Pagurus bernhardus (Decapoda: Paguridae) megalopa

Marine Biology, 1984
Individual oxygen consumption was determined during the megalopa development of Pagurus bernhardus at 18°C in 1983. The maximum observed range was from 0.101 to 0.343 μl O2 h-1 ind-1. Individual respiration rate dropped by about 33% during the first two days and continued to remain at that level throughout the moult cycle.

Detection of Megalopa Phase Crab Larvae Using Digital Image Processing

2019 International Seminar on Research of Information Technology and Intelligent Systems (ISRITI), 2019
Blue Swimmer Crab has high economic value as an export commodity. One of the problems that occur in crab culture is cannibalism during the larval development phase. Megalopa phase crab larvae tend to eat zoea phase crab larvae due to inadequate feeding.

The megalopa stage in brachyuran crabs. The Podotremata Guinot

Journal of Natural History, 1981
Summary The available information on the megalopa stage in podotrematous crabs, that is the Dromioidea, Homoloidea, Raninoidea and Tymoloidea, is reviewed. The morphology of the megalopas tends to support the relationships between these groups indicated by the zoeal stages but does not provide any additional evidence on the unresolved problem of ...
