Journal of Natural Products, 1994A new diterpenoid, megathyrin A, together with three known compounds, rabdocoetsins B, C, and D, were isolated from the leaves of Isodon megathyrsus, and their structures and nmr spectral data were assigned by a combination of one- and two-dimensional nmr techniques. These compounds displayed significant cytotoxic activity.

It can spread from seed, is highly competitive with native flora, and while it is highly fire resistant it can quickly spread to invade gaps left in natural vegetation after fire.
