Megathyrin B: A Cytotoxic Diterpene fromIsodon megathyrsus
Planta Medica, 1998From the leaves of Isodon megathyrsus, a novel ent-kaurene diterpene, megathyrin B, was isolated and its structure determined as 1 alpha,7 beta,11 beta,15 beta-tetrahydroxy-ent-7 alpha,20-epoxy-kaur-16-ene by 1D- and 2D-NMR spectral analysis. Additionally, its stereochemistry was unambiguously assigned by X-ray crystallography.

XXV International Grassland Congress (IGC 2023), 2023
In Kenya, the dairy sub-sector is dominated by smallholder farmers, who keep between 1-10 dairy cows, and produce over 80% of the marketed milk in the country. The sub-sector is characterized by low milk production, long calving intervals and high calf mortality. The main constraint is the lack of year- round quality feeds hence the low lactation yield

Effects of leaf and stem maturation on nutritional value in Megathyrsus maximus
Journal of the Science of Food and AgricultureAbstractBackgroundMegathyrsus maximus is a forage grass native to Africa but widely cultivated in tropical and subtropical regions of the world where it is part of the grazing food chain. This study aimed to evaluate five M. maximus genotypes for the effect of maturity on their morpho‐agronomic traits, nutritional composition and digestibility, and to ...

Bioplastic production from Guinea grass (Megathyrsus maximus)
Proceedings of the Annual Research Symposium 2025, University of Colombo, Sri LankaPlastic pollution and dispersal of invasive plant species are among the most crucial environmental issues globally, contributing to ecosystem degradation and biodiversity loss. This study explores the potential of producing biodegradable plastics using cellulose extracted from the leaf biomass of an invasive grass Megathyrsus maximus.

PRODUCTIVE REALITY AND POSSIBILITY OF USING CULTIVARS OF THE GENUS MEGATHYRSUS
Inadequate pasture management in Brazil has resulted in degradation and reduced livestock productivity. Disordered intensive grazing compromises the response capacity of forages, while the lack of soil correction and fertilization, together with inadequate practices, contribute to low productivity and degradation of the environment. Elemental contents of Gliricidia-Megathyrsus mixtures
The role of minerals in animal production, especially ruminants cannot be overemphasized because the imbalance of minerals associated with forages and feeds could lead to such animals not performing to the desired levels or exhibiting defects. This study evaluated the mineral elements and ratios of some of the macro-elements of <i>Gliricidia ...DELE, P. A. +8 more
