Meiotic behavior and DNA content in alloplasmic lines of maize

Genome, 1997
The cytoplasm of Zea mays ssp. mexicana (teosinte) affects several inherited traits when combined with genotypes of maize (Zea mays ssp. mays). The meiotic behavior and the total DNA content of four lines of maize with teosinte cytoplasm were compared with those of the parental lines. The results obtained suggest that the cytoplasm of teosinte promotes

Speciation in Pyrus: Chromosome Number and Meiotic Behavior

Botanical Gazette, 1967
A detailed study of mitosis and meiosis in Pyrus species has revealed that all species are diploid, with 2n = 34, though several cultivars and variants are triploid. All diploids had regular 17 II. In triploids, trivalents represented the maximum association, and no cell had more than a total of 17 bivalents and trivalents combined.

A reexamination of the diploidlike meiotic behavior of polyploid cotton

Theoretical and Applied Genetics, 1976
Chromosome associations at pachytene, diakinesis, and metaphase I were analyzed in haploids of the allotetraploid G.hirsutwn, in the F1 hybrid between G.arboreum (A2) and G. raimondii (D5), and in the doubled hybrid 2(A2D2) in an effort to define more clearly the mechanism responsible for the diploidlike behavior of the natural allotetraploids.

Meiotic behavior of sex chromosomes: what is normal?

1987
Molecular techniques of DNA cloning and probing have recently resulted in a deluge of information about DNA sequences on the X and Y chromosomes. It is essential that this information be intergrated into the genetic and cytological information. In this paper known facts will be identified and questions raised that will focus on the areas of disparity ...
