Porin‐Independent Uptake of Small Molecule Antibiotics Facilitated by Escherichia coli Outer Membrane Vesicles

open access: yesBiotechnology and Bioengineering, Volume 123, Issue 1, Page 235-244, January 2026.
We demonstrate that bacterial outer membrane vesicles (OMVs) can enhance antibiotic delivery into Gram‐negative bacteria by bypassing porin‐dependent uptake. Encapsulation of imipenem in OMVs significantly increased its effectiveness against multidrug‐resistant clinical isolates, highlighting OMVs as a promising platform for overcoming permeability ...

Genetic Insights Into Human‐Driven Hybridization, Cultural Shifts, and Ecological Consequences of Feral Pigs (Sus scrofa) in Hawai‘i

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 1, January 2026.
Polynesian pigs were brought to the Hawaiian Islands with Polynesian settlement in the mid‐1200s and represent part of the cultural legacy of Hawai‘i. Yet, the introduction of European pigs since 1778 and onward has put into question the ancestral composition of contemporary animals, and conservation efforts have been challenged by tension between the ...

Microsatellite‐Based Genetic Analysis of a Wild Alpine Bumblebee and the Environmental Drivers of Its Genetic Diversity

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 1, January 2026.
High genetic diversity was detected in 539 B. kashmirensis individuals from 36 populations in Qinghai Province using 15 SSR markers. STRUCTURE, UPGMA, and PCoA analyses revealed east–west genetic clustering of populations. Environmental factors such as latitude, longitude, solar radiation, and vapor pressure influence genetic diversity. ABSTRACT Bombus

Promoting Ion Conduction and Li Metal Compatibility Through Nb5+‐Substituted Zirconium‐Based Chlorides for All‐Solid‐State Batteries

open access: yesInterdisciplinary Materials, Volume 4, Issue 6, Page 914-926, November 2025.
This study proposes Nb5+‐doped zirconium‐based electrolytes (Li2−xZr1−xNbxCl6) to improve ionic conductivity (1.82 mS cm−1 at 25°C) and moisture stability. The modified electrolyte improves interfacial stability and critical current density (1.3 mA cm−2), reducing Li⁺ migration barriers and full cells with 81.8% of its capacity retained.
