Mekteps in Uşak During Ottoman Era
2014Mektep is a word that means "place where wrıtıng is learnt by moslem children. In fact mekteps were places" where Quran is tought. Because, all moslem children leran Quran first. In Ottoman Turkey, this kind of schools were called "Sıbyan Mektepleri" and were assuıned as the first step of the education.
