Melamine Sponge Functionalized with Urea-Formaldehyde Co-Oligomers as a Sorbent for the Solid-Phase Extraction of Hydrophobic Analytes

open access: yesMolecules, 2018
A new procedure for the functionalization of melamine sponge (MeS) with urea-formaldehyde (UF) co-oligomers is put forward. The procedure differs from the typical synthesis of the UF co-polymer, as it employs a base-catalyzed condensation step at certain

Release of Formaldehyde and Melamine from Melamine Tableware Manufactured in the Philippines

open access: yesJournal of Food Protection, 1992
The amounts of the melamine resin monomers, formaldehyde and melamine, that migrated from melamine tableware into food-simulating solvents were studied under various conditions. Undetectable or limited release of both monomers was determined in the extract when water was used as a food-simulating solvent.
