Morphologic and Chemical Properties of PMMA/ATH Layers with Enhanced Abrasion Resistance Realised by Cold Plasma Spraying at Atmospheric Pressure

open access: yesAdvances in Condensed Matter Physics, Volume 2018, Issue 1, 2018., 2018
This study investigated the morphologic and chemical properties of coatings based on PMMA/ATH powder and deposited by cold plasma spraying on wood and glass. Since the deposition of pure PMMA/ATH powder with air as process gas yielded coatings with insufficient abrasion resistance, two modifications of the basic process were investigated.

Mussel‐Inspired, Self‐Healing, Highly Effective Fully Polymeric Fire‐Retardant Coatings Enabled by Group Synergy

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 36, Issue 44, November 1, 2024.
Inspired by the multifunctions of mussel's catechol groups, here a pioneering “group synergy” design strategy has been proposed to create a waterborne fully polymeric fire‐retardant coating that exhibits self‐healing, strong adhesion, and superior fire protection for various substrates from polymer foams to steel structures.

Multidimensional Data Encoding Based on Multicolor Microencapsulated Thermoresponsive Fluorescent Phase Change Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 34, Issue 34, August 22, 2024.
Microencapsulated mixtures of fluorescent dyes in organic phase change materials are used to generate composite‐based thermoresponsive fluorescent pixels, which undergo multistep color and/or intensity emission changes upon temperature variation. Arrays of these pixels are exploited for high‐security 3D information encryption and 4D data storage ...

THE EFFECTS OF BORON COMPOUNDS AND DIFFERENT MELAMINE CONTENTS IN MUF RESINS ON SOME PROPERTIES OF MDF PANELS

open access: yesBioResources, 2011
The objective of this study was to determine the effects of some boron compounds, which have fire retardant properties, as well as melamine-urea-formaldehyde (MUF) resins having different melamine contents (10%, 15%, and 20%) on some physical and ...
