Sentinel events in pediatric hepatology: A pilot simulation curriculum

open access: yesJPGN Reports, EarlyView.

Duodenal Lipomatosis as a Curious Cause of Upper Gastrointestinal Bleed: A Report with Review of Literature [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical and Diagnostic Research, 2016
Lipomas of the gastrointestinal tract are rare. Duodenal lipomas are incidental and mostly asymptomatic. Tumours may produce symptoms of abdominal pain and discomfort or cause bleeding due to ulceration or intestinal obstruction due to intussusception ...

A rare presentation of gastrointestinal stromal tumor arising from a meckel's diverticulum: A case report

open access: yesJournal of Family Medicine and Primary Care, 2022
The most common congenital gastrointestinal tract abnormality is Meckel's diverticulum, affecting 1% to 2% of the population. Meckel's diverticulum can sometimes house a gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST), which is a rare malignant tumor.

Outskirts of Nearby Disk Galaxies: Star Formation and Stellar Populations

open access: yes, 2016
The properties and star formation processes in the far-outer disks of nearby spiral and dwarf irregular galaxies are reviewed. The origin and structure of the generally exponential profiles in stellar disks is considered to result from cosmological ...

Sengstaken-Blakemore tube as a rescue treatment for hemorrhagic shock secondary to laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding erosion [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Gastrointestinal bleeding is an uncommon but potentially life-threatening complication of laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding (LAGB) erosion. We present the use of a Sengstaken-Blakemore tube as a treatment device for severe gastrointestinal bleeding

Gastric antral vascular ectasia: A rare etiology of gastrointestinal bleeding in children

open access: yesJPGN Reports, EarlyView.
Abstract Gastrointestinal bleeding is relatively common in children. While most patients present with mild bleeding, gastric antral vascular ectasia (GAVE) is a rare but potentially life‐threatening cause. GAVE is typically associated with chronic conditions and more common in adults.

Small Bites: Star formation recipes in extreme dwarfs

open access: yes, 2011
We study the relationship between the gas column density (Sigma_HI) and the star formation rate surface density (Sigma_SFR) for a sample of extremely small (M_B ~ -13, Delta V_50 ~ 30 km/s) dwarf irregular galaxies.
