Existence of Kink and Antikink Wave Solutions of Singularly Perturbed Modified Gardner Equation

open access: yesMathematics
In this paper, the singularly perturbed modified Gardner equation is considered. Firstly, for the unperturbed equation, under certain parameter conditions, we obtain the exact expressions of kink wave solution and antikink wave solution by using the ...

A Single and Double Mode Approach to Chaotic Vibrations of a Cylindrical Shell with Large Deflection

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2004
The chaotic vibrations of a cylindrical shell of large deflection subjected to two-dimensional exertions are studied in the present research. The dynamic nonlinear governing equations of the cylindrical shell are derived on the basis of single and double

A generalization of Françoise's algorithm for calculating higher order Melnikov functions

open access: yesBulletin des Sciences Mathématiques, 2002
In [J. Differential Equations 146 (2) (1998) 320–335], Françoise gives an algorithm for calculating the first nonvanishing Melnikov function Mℓ of a small polynomial perturbation of a Hamiltonian vector field and shows that Mℓ is given by an Abelian integral.

Modeling of Some Classes of Extended Oscillators: Simulations, Algorithms, Generating Chaos, and Open Problems

open access: yesAlgorithms
In this article, we propose some extended oscillator models. Various experiments are performed. The models are studied using the Melnikov approach. We show some integral units for researching the behavior of these hypothetical oscillators.

The scattering map in two coupled piecewise-smooth systems, with numerical application to rocking blocks

open access: yes, 2013
We consider a non-autonomous dynamical system formed by coupling two piecewise-smooth systems in $\RR^2$ through a non-autonomous periodic perturbation.

Higher-order Melnikov functions for degenerate cubic Hamiltonians

open access: yesAdvances in Differential Equations, 1996
The author considers quadratic perturbation problems of Hamiltonian systems in the plane with degenerate cubic Hamiltonians. He first uses the scheme of J. P. Francoise to compute explicitly the first four Melnikov functions \(M_1(h),\dots, M_4(h)\), then he proves the following five interesting theorems. Theorem 1.

Heteroclinic orbits and transport in a perturbed integrable Suris map

open access: yes, 1996
Explicit formulae are given for the saddle connection of an integrable family of standard maps studied by Y. Suris. When the map is perturbed this connection is destroyed, and we use a discrete version of Melnikov's method to give an explicit formula for

Nonintegrability of an extensible conducting rod in a uniform magnetic field

open access: yes, 2011
The equilibrium equations for an isotropic Kirchhoff rod are known to be completely integrable. It is also known that neither the effects of extensibility and shearability nor the effects of a uniform magnetic field individually break integrability. Here

Bifurcation of Periodic Solutions and Numerical Simulation for the Viscoelastic Belt

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2014
We study the bifurcation of periodic solutions for viscoelastic belt with integral constitutive law in 1: 1 internal resonance. At the beginning, by applying the nonsingular linear transformation, the system is transformed into another system whose ...
