Peanut response following soybean grown full‐season or double‐cropped after wheat in North Carolina

open access: yesCrop, Forage &Turfgrass Management, Volume 12, Issue 1, June 2026.
Abstract Including soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merr.] in the previous cropping cycle can adversely affect peanut (Arachis hypogaea L.) yield by increasing disease incidence and populations of plant‐parasitic nematodes in the soil. The impact of double‐cropping wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) and soybean versus full‐season soybean (referred to as the soybean

Genomic selection of root‐knot nematode (Meloidogyne enterolobii) resistance in watermelon wild relatives (Citrullus amarus)

open access: yesThe Plant Genome, Volume 19, Issue 1, March 2026.
Abstract Meloidogyne enterolobii is a virulent root‐knot nematode (RKN) species posing a significant threat to watermelon production across the United States. The USDA, ARS, Plant Introduction (PI) collection of Citrullus amarus, a wild relative of cultivated watermelon (Citrullus lanatus), contains RKN‐resistance. However, incorporating RKN resistance

Genetic Analysis of Meloidogyne arenaria Race 1 Resistance in Tobacco [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Disease, 1999
Inheritance of resistance to the peanut root-knot nematode (Meloidogyne arenaria (Neal) Chitwood race 1) was investigated in the flue-cured tobacco cv. Speight G 28 and the breeding lines 81-RL-2K and SA 1214. The genetic relationship of this resistance in Speight G 28 to the resistance of the same cultivar to races 1 and 3 of M.
