A chromosome-level genome of a Kordofan melon illuminates the origin of domesticated watermelons

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America, 2021
Significance Wild progenitors of crops are important resources for breeding and for understanding domestication, but identifying them is difficult. Using an integrative approach, we discovered that a Sudanese form of melon with nonbitter whitish pulp ...

Development of KASP Markers and Identification of a QTL Underlying Powdery Mildew Resistance in Melon (Cucumis melo L.) by Bulked Segregant Analysis and RNA-Seq

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2021
Powdery mildew (PM), caused by Podosphaera xanthii (Px), is one of the most devastating fungal diseases of melon worldwide. The use of resistant cultivars is considered to be the best and most effective approach to control this disease. In this study, an

Melonic CFTs [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of Corfu Summer Institute 2019 "School and Workshops on Elementary Particle Physics and Gravity" — PoS(CORFU2019), 2020
The melonic limit is a relatively new type of large-$N$ limit, differing from the much older and well-known large-$N$ limits of vector and matrix field theories, which are dominated by cactus and planar Feynman diagrams, respectively. The melonic limit typically appears in tensor field theories, characterized by an invariance group in which the fields ...

Bitter Melon (Momordica charantia L.) Fruit Bioactives Charantin and Vicine Potential for Diabetes Prophylaxis and Treatment

open access: yesPlants, 2021
Natural products are gaining clinical significance in modern day health care systems to prevent diseases. Bitter melon, a health promoting vegetable, is traditionally used for medical nutrition therapy to cure diabetes but to reap maximum health claims ...

On melonic supertensor models [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2018
Abstract We investigate a class of supersymmetric quantum mechanical theories (with two supercharges) having tensor-valued degrees of freedom which are dominated by melon diagrams in the large N limit. One motivation was to examine the interplay between supersymmetry and melonic dominance and potential implications for building toy

Comparative analysis of nuclear, chloroplast, and mitochondrial genomes of watermelon and melon provides evidence of gene transfer

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
During plant evolution, there is genetic communication between organelle and nuclear genomes. A comparative analysis was performed on the organelle and nuclear genomes of the watermelon and melon.

Melons are Branched Polymers [PDF]

open access: yesAnnales Henri Poincaré, 2013
Melonic graphs constitute the family of graphs arising at leading order in the 1/N expansion of tensor models. They were shown to lead to a continuum phase, reminiscent of branched polymers. We show here that they are in fact precisely branched polymers, that is, they possess Hausdorff dimension 2 and spectral dimension 4/3.

Assessing the Genetic Diversity and Population Structure of a Tunisian Melon (Cucumis melo L.) Collection Using Phenotypic Traits and SSR Molecular Markers

open access: yesAgronomy, 2021
The assessment of genetic diversity and structure of a gene pool is a prerequisite for efficient organization, conservation, and utilization for crop improvement.
