Testing the Difference of Means of Populations With Respect to Intuitionistic Fuzzy Sets

open access: yesInternational Journal of Analysis and Applications, 2022
In this study, the tests of statistical hypotheses with crisp data using small samples are extended to with the membership function and the non-membership function of the intuitionistic fuzzy set. The test procedure of statistical hypotheses for means of

Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy for Pediatric, Adolescent, and Young Adult Patients With Osteosarcoma: Local Control Outcomes With Dosimetric Analysis

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background/Objectives Osteosarcoma is a radioresistant tumor that may benefit from stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) for locoregional control in metastatic/recurrent disease. We report institutional practice patterns, outcomes, toxicity, and failures in osteosarcoma patients treated with SBRT.

CONSTRUCTION OF NORMAL FUZZY NUMBERS: A CASE STUDY WITH EARTHQUAKE WAVEFORM DATA [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Process Management and New Technologies, 2013
This article demonstrates that a normal fuzzy number can be constructed from earthquake waveform data. According to the RandomnessFuzziness Consistency Principle, two independent laws of randomness in [α, β] and [β, γ] are necessary and sufficient ...

Why Cauchy Membership Functions: Efficiency

open access: yesAdvances in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, 2021
Fuzzy techniques depend heavily on eliciting meaningful membership functions for the fuzzy sets used. Often such functions are obtained from data. Just as often they are obtained from experts knowledgable of the domain and the problem being addressed.

Parent‐to‐Child Information Disclosure in Pediatric Oncology

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Despite professional consensus regarding the importance of open communication with pediatric cancer patients about their disease, actual practice patterns of disclosure are understudied. Extant literature suggests a significant proportion of children are not told about their diagnosis/prognosis, which is purported to negatively ...

Introductory Chapter: Which Membership Function is Appropriate in Fuzzy System?

open access: yesFuzzy Logic Based in Optimization Methods and Control Systems and its Applications, 2018
Fuzzy logic systems are widely used for control, system identification, pattern recognition problems, and many more applications from industry to academia. The membership functions (MFs) play vital role in the overall performance of fuzzy representation.

Prognostic Impact of Treatment Modalities, Including Targeted Compartmental Radio‐Immunotherapy, in a Cohort of Neuroblastoma Patients With CNS Metastases at Relapse

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Neuroblastoma (NB) with central nervous system (CNS) metastases is rare at diagnosis, but occurs more often during relapse/progression. Patients with CNS metastases face a dismal prognosis, with no standardized curative treatment available.

MEMBERSHIP FUNCTION – ARTMAP NEURAL NETWORKS

open access: yesTASK Quarterly, 2003
The project deals with the application of computational intelligence (CI) tools for multispectral image classification. Pattern recognition scheme is a global approach where the classification part is playing an important role to achieve the highest ...

Pathogenic Germline PALB2 and RAD50 Variants in Patients With Relapsed Ewing Sarcoma

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Approximately 10% of patients with Ewing sarcoma (EwS) have pathogenic germline variants. Here, we report two cases: first, a novel germline pathogenic variant in partner and localizer of BRCA2 (PALB2) in a patient with a late EwS relapse. Its impact on homologous recombination is demonstrated, and breast cancer risk is discussed.

Fuzzy logic based on Belief and Disbelief membership functions

open access: yesFuzzy Information and Engineering, 2017
Many theories are developed based on probability to deal with incomplete information. The fuzzy logic deals with belief rather than likelihood (probability). Zadeh first defined fuzzy set as a single membership function.
