Fluidity of Thyroid Plasma Membranes
1988The main function of the thyroid cell is the secretion of thyroid hormones (T4, thyroxine; T3, triiodothyronine). Thyroid hormones are first synthesized as part of thyroglobulin. Newly synthesized thyroglobulin is iodinated and vectorially transported to the apical region of the cell and released for storage in the lumen by exocytosis.
