Membrane Permeability: Monolayer Relationships

Science, 1963
A model of permeation of living membranes is proposed in which penetration by polar molecules takes place through islands composed of limited numbers of lipoidal molecules in a state comparable to that of certain compressed monolayers. These islands are visualized as scattered within a rigid, relatively impervious matrix.

Permeable Membrane Experiment

SAE Technical Paper Series, 1993
<div class="htmlview paragraph">The purpose of the Permeable Membrane Experiment is to gather flight data on three areas of membrane performance that are influenced by the presence of gravity. These areas are: (1) liquid/gas phase separation, (2) gas bubble interference with diffusion through porous membranes and (3) wetting characteristics of ...

Permeable diamond membranes

Diamond and Related Materials, 1995
Abstract The unique properties of diamond films open up a broad range of potential applications. Permeable diamond membranes would find good use, for example, as filter materials, due to their chemically inert and mechanically resistant nature, and for heat exchangers, since diamond has the highest thermal conductivity of all materials at room ...
