Relationship among surface electric double layer of cardiomyocyte membrane and toxicology of digoxin and opening of ion channels

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
We applied a new idea that the potential effect can change the ion adsorption structure on the cell surface to explore the mechanism of digoxin poisoning and the regulation of ion channels.

Hijacking emergency granulopoiesis: Neutrophil ontogeny and reprogramming in cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Neutrophils are highly plastic innate immune cells; their functions in cancer extend beyond the tumour microenvironment. This Review summarises current understanding of neutrophil maturation and heterogeneity and highlights tumour‐induced granulopoiesis as a systemic programme that expands immature, immunosuppressive neutrophils via tumour‐derived ...

Blood‐based proteomic profiling reveals context‐dependent changes in BCL2‐associated signaling during taxane therapy in breast cancer patients

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Chemotherapy side effects significantly impact cancer survivors' quality of life. Using protein levels in blood samples from breast cancer patients before and after 12 weeks of taxane treatment, we detected treatment‐dependent changes in calcium signaling and aging pathways associated with cancer recurrence.

Natural Frequencies of Levodopa‐Induced Dyskinesia in Parkinson's Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives Abnormal involuntary movements, known as dyskinesias, are common complications of levodopa treatment in patients with Parkinson's disease and can significantly impair quality of life. The underlying pathophysiology remains unclear, and current therapeutic options are limited.

Activation of Mitochondrial Ca2+ Oscillation and Mitophagy Induction by Femtosecond Laser Photostimulation

open access: yesBio-Protocol, 2022
Ultra-precise stimulation solely to individual mitochondria, without any influence to the whole cell, is quite difficult by traditional biochemical reagents. In mitophagy research, the mitochondria and even the whole cell usually suffer irreversible

Fatigue Crack Initiation and Growth in Nanocrystalline Ni at Multiple Length‐Scales

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Overview of miniaturized in situ SEM fatigue setup and resultant fatigue crack growth data for nanocrystalline Ni. The presented study focuses on the analysis of fatigue crack growth rate (FCGR) in focused ion beam‐notched microcantilevers prepared from nanocrystalline (NC) Ni as a model material.

Molecular Dynamics Simulation Study of Solid Vibration Permeation in Microporous Amorphous Silica Network Voids

open access: yesMembranes, 2019
Microporous silica membranes have silica polymer network voids smaller than 3 Å where only small gas molecules such as helium (2.6 Å) and hydrogen (2.89 Å) can be transported.

A model for self-sustained potential oscillation of lipid bilayer membranes induced by the gel-liquid crystal phase transitions.

open access: yesBiophysical Journal, 1993
To clarify the mechanism of self-sustained oscillation of the electric potential between the two solutions divided by a lipid bilayer membrane, a microscopic model of the membrane system is presented.

Structure and Oscillation of Membrane Potential in Block Copolypeptide Membranes.

open access: yesmembrane, 1997
Membranes solvent-cast from the triblock copolypeptide poly (γ-benzyl-L-glutamate) x-poly (L-leucine) y-poly (γ-benzyl-L-glutamate) x, in which the mole ratio of the constituent blocks was properly tailored, displayed a mesophase structure comprised of cylindrical domains of poly (γ-benzyl-L-glutamate) in a continuous matrix of poly (L-leucine ...

Mitogen‐induced oscillations of membrane potential and Ca2+ in human fibroblasts [PDF]

open access: yesFEBS Letters, 1990
Using the whole‐cell technique, we have measured recurring hyperpolarizations induced by fetal calf serum and bradykinin in human fibroblasts. By coupling fura‐2 microfluorimetry to electrophysiology, we have also measured directly cytosolic Ca2+ and found that Ca2+ oscillations occur in synchrony with membrane currents. Mitogen stimulation of cells in
