We report our experience with and long-term results of 37 patients with tentorial meningiomas who underwent surgery between 1972 and 1993. The average age was 43 years, and the mean duration of symptoms was 36 months. Headache (83.8%) and extremity or gait ataxia (35.1%) were the most common complaints.

The clinical presentation and pathological characteristics of 18 histologically verified meningiomas in the paediatric age group are reviewed. There was a 1:1 sex ratio. Two children presented with seizures. The majority were supratentorial in location and large in size.

A 63-year-old woman underwent a left craniotomy for the removal of a middle cranial fossa meningioma. Microscopically, the tumor showed a transitional and fibroblastic histological pattern. Within the tumoral tissue there were collagenous foci where little eosinophilic masses were found.
