MRI-based multiregional radiomics for preoperative prediction of Ki-67 expression in meningiomas: a two-center study

open access: yesFrontiers in Neurology
BackgroundHigh expression of Ki-67 in meningioma is significantly associated with higher histological grade and worse prognosis. The non-invasive and dynamic assessment of Ki-67 expression levels in meningiomas is of significant clinical importance and ...

Pathogenic Neurofibromatosis type 1 gene variants in tumors of non‐NF1 patients and role of R1276

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, Volume 16, Issue 4, Page 803-813, April 2026.
Somatic variants of the neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) gene occur across neoplasms without clinical manifestation of the disease NF1. We identified emerging somatic pathogenic NF1 variants and hotspots, for example, at the arginine finger 1276. Those missense variants provide fundamental information about neurofibromin's role in cancer.

Visual outcomes in patients with meningiomas compressing optic nerve

open access: yesFrontiers in Neurology
BackgroundMeningiomas compressing the optic nerve can lead to progressive visual loss due to the nerve’s complex intraorbital, intracanalicular, and intracranial anatomy.

Automated identification of radiotherapy treatment sites from unstructured physician notes

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, Volume 27, Issue 4, April 2026.
Abstract Purpose Ambiguous or incomplete documentation is a recurrent bottleneck in radiation oncology workflows, leading to inefficiencies in communication and potential treatment delays. Large language models (LLMs) pose a solution to addressing these ambiguities without added burden to clinical staff.

His‐MMDM: Multi‐Domain and Multi‐Omics Translation of Histopathological Images with Diffusion Models

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 19, 2 April 2026.
His‐MMDM is a diffusion model‐based framework for scalable multi‐domain and multi‐omics translation of histopathological images, enabling tasks from virtual staining, cross‐tumor knowledge transfer, and omics‐guided image editing. ABSTRACT Generative AI (GenAI) has advanced computational pathology through various image translation models.

Microstructure imaging in patients undergoing evaluation for epilepsy surgery or low‐grade glioma: Clinical utility of a novel diffusion MRI method

open access: yesEpilepsia Open, Volume 11, Issue 2, Page 592-604, April 2026.
Abstract Objective To investigate a recently developed MRI technique for mapping the Mean Diffusivity of Tissue (MDT), which improves diffusion MRI imaging of the cerebral cortex by reducing partial volume effects from cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). As cortical lesions are common in patients with focal epilepsy, we explored the clinical value of MDT ...

Real‐World Weight Loss Is Associated With a Reduction in Cancer Risk

open access: yesObesity, Volume 34, Issue 4, Page 928-938, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Objective Obesity is a major risk factor for multiple cancers, yet the impact of nonsurgical weight loss on cancer risk remains uncertain. Our objective was to evaluate whether real‐world nonsurgical weight loss is associated with a reduced risk of developing cancer.

Adaptive Servo‐Ventilation for Glottic Closure in a Patient With Adult‐Onset Congenital Central Hypoventilation Syndrome: A Case Report

open access: yesRespirology Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 4, April 2026.
We report a genetically confirmed case of adult‐onset congenital central hypoventilation syndrome (CCHS) in a 69‐year‐old man whose condition became clinically manifest following transsphenoidal surgery for a pituitary microadenoma, complicated by high‐grade atrioventricular block and recurrent postoperative type 2 respiratory failure.

Early Initiation of Adjuvant Therapy Following Pediatric Endoscopic Endonasal Surgery for Tumors

open access: yesWorld Journal of Otorhinolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, Volume 12, Issue 2, Page 189-194, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Objective To evaluate complication rates of early adjuvant therapy initiation in pediatric patients with endoscopic endonasal resection for skull base tumors. Design Retrospective case series of pediatric patients (0–18 years old) with skull base tumors who underwent endoscopic endonasal resection between 2013 and 2023.
