Abstract This report concerns three patients with intracranial meningioma developing at the site of an old head injury with skull fracture. These cases, along with literature reports, suggest a causal relationship between head trauma and the subsequent development of meningioma.

Multiple meningiomas consisting of fibrous meningioma and anaplastic meningioma
Journal of Clinical Neuroscience, 2003A 61-year-old woman presented with progressive dementia over a period of 4 months. Computed tomographic (CT) scans and magnetic resonance (MR) imaging showed 2 meningiomas located at the left parasagittal region and the left sphenoid ridge. These tumors had distinct MRI findings; the left parasagittal tumour showed a clear peritumoral CSF space without

Meningiomas are the most common primary CNS tumor in adults, representing a third of brain lesions. Their clinical presentation varies greatly, ranging from asymptomatic incidental tumor to fatal tumor. The majority of meningiomas are benign, and gross total resection can achieve very low recurrence rates, with radiation therapy or radiosurgery ...

Current Treatment Options in Neurology, 2001
Meningiomas are extra-axial brain tumors of middle-to-late adult life and show a predominance in women. Overall, 90% of meningiomas are benign, 6% atypical, and 2% are malignant. Most patients diagnosed with a meningioma decide to have it removed surgically, and are advised to do so based on their neurologic symptoms.

We report our experience with and long-term results of 37 patients with tentorial meningiomas who underwent surgery between 1972 and 1993. The average age was 43 years, and the mean duration of symptoms was 36 months. Headache (83.8%) and extremity or gait ataxia (35.1%) were the most common complaints.

Current Opinion in Neurology, 1993
Meningiomas more often behave as benign tumors although their very rate of recurrence is unknown. These neoplasms have been exhaustively studied but neither their subtypes nor their histologic features were ever considered as reliable data of their biologic behavior.

Current Treatment Options in Neurology, 2010
Meningiomas are extra-axial dural-based tumors. They are the most common intracranial tumors, occur in mid to late life, and have a female predilection. Symptoms are a function of location. Meningiomas are usually benign, but atypical and malignant forms exist. Treatment is indicated for symptomatic lesions or when neurologic symptoms may shortly occur.

Brain Tumor Pathology, 2012
A 55-year old female was referred to the Department of Neurosurgery, Kitasato Hospital, because of a hearing impairment. Neuroimaging revealed a typical meningioma attached to the falx in the right frontal region. During surgery, an encapsulated, circumscribed, reddish-gray, slightly hard tumor attached to the falx was completely removed by an ...

Surgical Neurology, 1983
Two purely subdiaphragmatic intrasellar meningiomias are described. The rarity of this unusual intrasellar tumor is stressed, and the differential diagnosis of intrasellar meningioma versus pituitary adenoma is discussed. The good results of the rhinoseptal route for surgery are emphasized.

Tentorial meningiomas are encountered relatively infrequently, but it is nonetheless important to be aware of their variable clinical presentations and the need for individualized preoperative assessment and surgical management. The challenges presented by these lesions are due in large part to the complexity and variety of neurovascular structures ...
