Development of a Recombinant Outer Membrane Vesicles (OMVs)‐Based Vaccine Against Helicobacter pylori Infection in Mice

open access: yesJournal of Extracellular Vesicles, Volume 14, Issue 5, May 2025.
This study innovatively modified the structure of LPS for the recombinant H. pylori OMV vaccine, and utilised the vector advantage of OMVs to deliver the H. pylori main antigen proteins UreB, VacA and CagA to exert the synergistic effect of the vaccine, providing a new strategy for the design of H.

Epidemiologic Trends, Global Shifts in Meningococcal Vaccination Guidelines, and Data Supporting the Use of MenACWY-TT Vaccine: A Review

open access: yesInfectious Diseases and Therapy, 2019
Neisseria meningitidis is a major cause of meningitis and septicemia with cases, outbreaks, and epidemics reported globally in industrialized and non-industrialized countries. N. meningitidis is categorized into 12 serogroups; however, only 5 serogroups (

Mixture of Input-Output Hidden Markov Models for Heterogeneous Disease Progression Modeling [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
A particular challenge for disease progression modeling is the heterogeneity of a disease and its manifestations in the patients. Existing approaches often assume the presence of a single disease progression characteristics which is unlikely for neurodegenerative disorders such as Parkinson's disease.

Childhood Vaccine Hesitancy as an Interaction‐Based Phenomenon

open access: yesSociology of Health &Illness, Volume 47, Issue 4, May 2025.
ABSTRACT The paper discusses the role of the interaction between parents and healthcare professionals in overcoming or heightening childhood vaccine hesitancy. Childhood vaccine hesitancy is seen as a set of attitudes and behaviours—that is, dispositions—that are highly dependent on how trust and vulnerability intersect during vaccination appointments.

Genome wide expression profiling reveals suppression of host defence responses during colonisation by Neisseria meningitides but not N. lactamica. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Both Neisseria meningitidis and the closely related bacterium Neisseria lactamica colonise human nasopharyngeal mucosal surface, but only N. meningitidis invades the bloodstream to cause potentially life-threatening meningitis and septicaemia.

Statistics of infections with diversity in the pathogenicity [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2004
The statistics of outbreaks in a model for the propagation of meningococcal diseases is analyzed, taking into account the possibility that the population is fragmented into weakly connected patches. It is shown that, depending on the size of of the sample studied, the ratio between the variance and the mean of infected cases can vary from one (Poisson ...

An Economic Evaluation of Direct Oral Penicillin Challenge for De‐Labelling Low Risk Patients With a Penicillin Allergy Label

open access: yesClinical &Experimental Allergy, Volume 55, Issue 5, Page 378-390, May 2025.
The cost of the Direct Oral Penicillin Challenge (DPC) itself is only a fraction of the full costs required to test for a penicillin allergy label by non‐allergists. The costs of DPC varied between hospitals using a nurse‐led, pharmacist‐led, or mixture of pharmacists and nurses.

Patient follow‐up after discharge from the paediatric intensive care unit: A scoping review

open access: yesNursing in Critical Care, Volume 30, Issue 3, May 2025.
Abstract Background Most children admitted to a paediatric intensive care unit (PICU) now survive because of improvements in care. Many studies have identified the psychological, functional, cognitive and social impact of PICU admission on a child and their family. However, expert recommendations on follow‐up are lacking. Aim To identify the strategies
