Astrocyte Enrichment of 3D Cortical Constructs Enhances Brain Repair

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study highlights the role of astrocytes in supporting neural progenitor cell survival and differentiation after traumatic brain injury. Astrocytes enhanced neuronal differentiation, improved cell survival in co‐cultures, and promoted integration of microfluidics‐based implants with host tissue following implantation. Additionally, increased axonal

Gut Microbiota‐Derived Anandamide Mediates the Therapeutic Effects of Urolithin A on Alcohol‐Induced Cognitive and Social Dysfunction via CB1R‐DRD2‐RAP1 Signaling Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals that Urolithin A (UA) counteracts alcohol‐induced cognitive and social dysfunction (AICSD) via a gut microbiome‐dependent mechanism. UA‐enriched Bacteroids sartorii and Parabacteroids distasonis elevate anandamide (AEA), which activates the CB1R‐DRD2‐Rap1 signaling cascade to drive synaptic repair and reduce neuroinflammation ...

Age, Gender, and Socioeconomic Status Differences in Explicit and Implicit Beliefs About Effortlessly Perfect Self-Presentation

open access: yes, 2018
Feeling pressure to project an image of effortless perfection -- always appearing to perform with self-confidence and ease --- has been portrayed in the media as an increasingly common mental health vulnerability with potentially serious implications for

Temporal and Cell‐Specific Regulation of Synaptic Homeostasis by the Chromatin Remodeler Chd1

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Chd1, the Drosophila homologue of mammalian CHD2 ‐ a gene linked to autism, epilepsy, and intellectual disability, is required for synaptic homeostatic plasticity. Chd1 in glia is necessary for the rapid induction of synaptic homeostasis, whereas Chd1 in motoneurons, muscle, and glia is critical for long‐term maintenance.

Random planar graphs and the London street network [PDF]

open access: yes
In this paper we analyse the street network of London both in its primary and dual representation. To understand its properties, we consider three idealised models based on a grid, a static random planar graph and a growing random planar graph. Comparing

Microenvironment Self‐Adaptive Nanoarmor to Address Adhesion‐ and Colonization‐Related Obstacles in Impaired Intestine Promote Bacteriotherapy Against Parkinson's Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A microenvironment self‐adaptive nanoarmor is developed to effectively address the adhesion‐ and colonization‐related challenges posed by multiple physiological and pathological characteristics in the intestine. L. plantarum@MPN@CS showed significant therapeutic potential in treating Parkinson's disease (PD), a model for extraintestinal disorders, as ...
