The Future of Research in Cognitive Robotics: Foundation Models or Developmental Cognitive Models?
Research in cognitive robotics founded on principles of developmental psychology and enactive cognitive science would yield what we seek in autonomous robots: the ability to perceive its environment, learn from experience, anticipate the outcome of events, act to pursue goals, and adapt to changing circumstances without resorting to training with ...

Linear Representation of Pitch Height in the SMARC Effect
The Spatial-Musical Association of Response Codes (SMARC) effect consists in faster and more accurate responses to low (vs. high) pitched tones when they are executed in the bottom/left (vs. top/right) space.

In macrophage‐myofibroblast transition, upregulated NNMT depletes S‐Adenosylmethionine (SAM) and nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide(NAD+), thereby triggering epigenetic reprogramming via Histone H3 Lysine 27 acetylation (H3K27ac) accumulation at the promoter region of master transcription factor Prrx1.

Numbers are associated with space, but it is unclear how flexible these associations are. We investigated whether the SNARC effect (Spatial-Numerical Association of Response Codes; Dehaene et al. 1993 J. Exp. Psychol. 122, 371–396. (doi:10.1037/0096-3445.

The Mental Number Line in Domestic Chicks
The estimation of number by humans shows evidence for a mental number line in which magnitude increases from left to right. Rugani, Vallortigara, Priftis, and Regolin (2015) recently reported a similar mental number line in domestic chicks. This is an unexpected result given the role of language and culture in the human mental number line.

Ecologically‐Valid Emotion Signatures Enhance Mood Disorder Diagnostics
This study identifies ecologically‐valid Divergent Emotional Functional Networks (DEFN), derived from dynamic functional connectivity during naturalistic movie watching. The DEFN reliably enhances diagnostic accuracy for mood disorders, including major depressive and bipolar disorders, demonstrating strong reproducibility across demographic factors and

In PCOS patients with hyperandrogenemia, decreased ferritin heavy chain 1 (FTH1) causes Fe2⁺ overload and ferroptosis in trophoblasts. Androgens induce FTH1 protein degradation via AR‐LAMP2A‐mediated chaperone‐mediated autophagy pathway, leading to placental development disruption and early pregnancy loss. Metformin mitigates androgen‐induced placental

PFOA exposure induces pregnancy loss by promoting glutaminolysis, which further causes ammonia accumulation in macrophages. Cellular ammonia retention results in damage to mitochondria and lysosomes, which leads to cell death eventually. Impaired lysosomes also decrease the secretion of the Cathepsin B (CTSB), and attenuate macrophage infiltration and ...

This study reveals that Urolithin A (UA) counteracts alcohol‐induced cognitive and social dysfunction (AICSD) via a gut microbiome‐dependent mechanism. UA‐enriched Bacteroids sartorii and Parabacteroids distasonis elevate anandamide (AEA), which activates the CB1R‐DRD2‐Rap1 signaling cascade to drive synaptic repair and reduce neuroinflammation ...
