Facilitating the Isolation of Polar Natural Products: Mild 1,1′‐Carbonyldiimidazole‐Enabled Method for Derivatization of Acids and Alcohols

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Organic Chemistry, Volume 28, Issue 28, July 29, 2025.
In this work, 1,1′‐carbonyldiimidazole, a relatively inexpensive reagent with inherently low toxicity, is utilized to activate polar natural products containing carboxylic acids and alcohols to enable the formation of less polar species (N‐acylimidazoles and N‐acyloxymidazoles).

Energy Transfer Catalysis Enabled 2,2,2‐Trifluoroethoxy‐Amination of Olefins

open access: yesChemistryEurope, Volume 3, Issue 4, July 14, 2025.
A thioxanthone‐catalyzed 2,2,2‐trifluoroethoxyamination of olefins is developed using unprecedented, easily prepared, and bench‐stable oxime ethers via the generation of alkoxy and iminyl radicals. The controlled intermolecular addition of the alkoxy radical to an olefin, over possible competing side processes, is critical.
