Hydrodynamics of Four Moments in the Life of a Floodplain Forest in Compound Channels

open access: yesWater Resources Research, Volume 62, Issue 4, April 2026.
Abstract Natural rivers often function as compound channels, comprising main channel and floodplain. Flow dynamics in these systems, particularly during floods, are influenced by factors such as vegetation, and flood intensity. Floodplain vegetation significantly modifies flow structures, affecting hydraulic conveyance and ecological functions.

Freshwater Availability in the Mississippi River Basin and Adjacent Texas Aquifers Under Human and Climate Pressures

open access: yesEarth's Future, Volume 14, Issue 4, April 2026.
Abstract The Mississippi River Basin and adjacent Texas aquifers (MRB–TX) face intensifying water stress from irrigation demand, extremes, and climate change. We quantify spatiotemporal storage trajectories by integrating long‐term groundwater‐level records, GRACE/GRACE‐FO terrestrial water storage anomalies (TWSA), irrigation water‐use reanalysis ...

Multi-scale Entanglement Renormalization Ansatz in Two Dimensions: Quantum Ising Model

open access: yes, 2008
We propose a symmetric version of the multi-scale entanglement renormalization Ansatz (MERA) in two spatial dimensions (2D) and use this Ansatz to find an unknown ground state of a 2D quantum system. Results in the simple 2D quantum Ising model on the $8\

Lepota in mera

open access: yesPhainomena (Ljubljana), 2002

Functional profiling of mercuric reductase (mer A) genes in biofilm communities of a technical scale biocatalyzer

open access: yesBMC Microbiology, 2003
Background Bacterial mercury resistance is based on enzymatic reduction of ionic mercury to elemental mercury and has recently been demonstrated to be applicable for industrial wastewater clean-up.

Dancing in the sun: The musical as touristic hook in ‘Honeymoon’

open access: yesNECSUS, 2015
The British/Spanish co-production Honeymoon (Luna de miel, Michael Powell, 1959) is a curious case of an export for foreign audiences that won the Technical Grand Prize at the Cannes Film Festival yet was a commercial failure.
