Research progress on lithium isotopes separation by chemical exchange with crown ethers decorated materials

open access: yesGreen Energy & Environment
The separation of lithium isotopes (6Li and 7Li) is of great importance for the nuclear industry. The lithium amalgam method is the only lithium isotopes separation process in industry, and the extensive use of mercury has raised concerns about its ...

Reconstruction of Nickel Chalcogenide Induced Ruthenium Nanoparticles Embedding for Oxygen Evolution: Mechanism Switching Enables Enhanced Catalytic Activity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Ru nanoparticles supported nickel chalcogens (Ru/NiX, X = S, Se), which enable fast electrooxidation to form an adaptively Ru embedding structure, featured by the compressed Ru─O─Ni bridge bonds at the Ru/NiOOH interface. On the one hand, Ru nanoparticles have a high affinity for capturing the OH−, consequently increasing the *O radical coverage.

Mass Independent Fractionation of Mercury Isotopes as Source Tracers in Sediments

open access: yes, 2015
Since the discovery of isotopic fractionation of mercury in nature, mass dependentfractionation (MDF) and mass independent fractionation (MIF) of mercury isotopes are used as a tracer to understand the mercury cycle.

Diet and landscape characteristics drive spatial patterns of mercury accumulation in a high-latitude terrestrial carnivore.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2023
Limited information exists on mercury concentrations and environmental drivers of mercury bioaccumulation in high latitude terrestrial carnivores. Spatial patterns of mercury concentrations in wolverine (Gulo gulo, n = 419) were assessed across a 1,600 ...

Real‐Time Stress Visualization of Hydrogels Enabled by Supramolecularly Switched Stretch‐Induced Phase Separation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Supramolecular hydrogels enable real‐time visualization of mechanical stress through supramolecular switching mechanotransduction. Adamantane‐modified cellulose functions as a responsive domain that undergoes an on–off transition between hydrated and dehydrated states via reversible β‐cyclodextrin–adamantane complexation and decomplexation.

Anthropogenic mercury migration from Asia to the open ocean

open access: yesCommunications Earth & Environment
To evaluate the path of anthropogenic mercury (Hg) from Asia to the Pacific Ocean, we report mercury stable isotopes in zooplankton from the East China Sea to the Bay of Bengal, and in the Philippine Sea and the Central Pacific.

STABLE ISOTOPES AND MERCURY AS TOOLS TO DEPICT AQUATIC FOOD WEBS [PDF]

open access: yesQuímica Nova
The structure of food webs is a fundamental attribute of ecosystems, and their characterization provides an intrinsic knowledge of the trophic interactions among organisms and of nutrient and energy transfer within ecosystems.

Causal‐Guided Ultra‐Long‐Term Time Series Forecasting Via Anticipated Covariates

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Often treated as unknown, information from the future remains underutilized. We demonstrate that in a coupled dynamical system, providing the future state of the effect enables accurate forecasting of the cause for a long timesteps. A time series forecasting paradigm that introduces anticipated covariates to represent such known future states is ...

Large igneous provinces played a major role in oceanic oxygenation events during the mid-Proterozoic

open access: yesCommunications Earth & Environment
Low atmospheric oxygen levels during the mid-Proterozoic were occasionally interrupted by transient high oxygen levels. The cause of mid-Proterozoic ocean redox variability remains unclear.
