High‐Value Targeted Conversion of Copper Slag as LiFePO4 Material for Lithium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesRare Metals, Volume 45, Issue 4, April 2026.
ABSTRACT The massive stockpiling of copper slag (CS) presents severe environmental and resource‐waste challenges. Existing strategies for CS valorization typically yield low‐value‐added products. Herein, we propose an innovative hierarchical regulation approach to transform CS into high‐performance LiFePO4 (LFP) cathode materials.

Construction of CoP/Mn2P Heterojunctions via One‐Step Phosphorization Coupled With Hollow Hard Carbon Spheres as Supports: Enabling Ultrastable Long‐Cycle Sodium‐Ion Anodes Over a Wide Temperature Range

open access: yesRare Metals, Volume 45, Issue 4, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Driven by global energy transition and sustainability, sodium‐ion batteries (SIBs) have emerged as key alternatives to lithium‐ion batteries for low‐to‐medium energy storage, because of abundant sodium resources and low cost. However, their commercialization is hindered by the lack of anodes with high capacity, fast kinetics, and long‐term ...

Selective Production of Glycolate through Photoelectrochemical Ethylene Glycol Valorization over an Earth‐Abundant Photoanode

open access: yesSmall Structures, Volume 7, Issue 4, April 2026.
A nanostructured Zr:α‐Fe2O3 photoanode, synthesized by combining chemical bath deposition and hybrid microwave heating, is first demonstrated as an earth‐abundant photoelectrode for the selective production of glycolate via photoelectrochemical ethylene glycol valorization toward a circular carbon economy.

Modeling Ganymede's Surface Charging in Preparation for the JUICE Mission

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Space Physics, Volume 131, Issue 4, April 2026.
Abstract The European Space Agency's (ESA) JUICE mission (JUpiter ICy moons Explorer) is en route to the Jovian system to characterize Ganymede's subsurface ocean. Determining the ocean's conductivity and depth requires precise measurements of its induced magnetic field at the position of JUICE.

Deciphering the “Missing Xenon Paradox” in Celestial Bodies: A Multifaceted Perspective Toward Demystifying This Enigma

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Planets, Volume 131, Issue 4, April 2026.
Abstract Xenon (Xe) is a heavy noble gas with intriguing chemical properties, such as having several stable isotopes and the ability to form compounds under extreme conditions. Despite the predictions based on cosmochemical models that suggest xenon should be relatively abundant in planetary reservoirs, empirical data indicate a significant depletion ...
