Chlor-alkali industrial contamination and riverine transport of mercury: Distribution and partitioning of mercury between water, suspended matter, and bottom sediment of the Thur River, France [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Total dissolved and total particulate Hg mass balances were estimated during one hydrological period (July 2001–June 2002) in the Thur River basin, which is heavily polluted by chlor-alkali industrial activity.

Utilization of Catla catla Fish Scale for Eliminating Cr (III) and Co (II) Heavy Metals From Wastewater

open access: yesNano Select, EarlyView.
The graphical abstract represents fish scales, a waste by product, were repurposed as a bio‐adsorbent for Cr(III) and Co(II) removal. The scales were washed, dried, and ground before being tested under varying concentrations. FTIR analysis showed changes in functional groups after adsorption, while SEM revealed metal ion attachment.

Node Modification of Metal‐Organic Frameworks for Catalytic Applications

open access: yesChemistryOpen, EarlyView.
Post‐synthetic modification of metal‐organic framework (MOF) nodes with metal or organic species produces advanced materials that serve as efficient catalysts, promoting more sustainable chemical transformations. Abstract Metal‐organic frameworks (MOFs) have been a breakthrough in different fields of chemistry, not only due to the extensive ...

Glutathione-Mediated Neuroprotection Against Methylmercury Neurotoxicity in Cortical Culture is Dependent on MRP1 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Methylmercury (MeHg) exposure at high concentrations poses significant neurotoxic threat to humans worldwide. The present study investigated the mechanisms of glutathione-mediated attenuation of MeHg neurotoxicity in primary cortical culture. MeHg (5 μM)

Niveles de plomo y mercurio en muestras de carne de pescado importado y local [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Piscivorous fish concentrate heavy metals in their body, so are the main source of contamination in humans. Given the serious consequences of poisoning, eleven fish meat samples were taken in Villavicencio (Colombia) to determine levels of lead and ...

Pesticide use in integrated pest and pollinator management framework to protect pollinator health

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 81, Issue 4, Page 1691-1696, April 2025.
Integrated pest management (IPM) emphasizes non‐chemical methods, with pesticides as a last resort, while integrated pest and pollinator management (IPPM) integrates pollinator health into pest control strategies. Abstract Agricultural pesticides have historically been a critical tool in controlling pests and diseases, preventing widespread suffering ...

Data Poisoning against Differentially-Private Learners: Attacks and Defenses [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
Data poisoning attacks aim to manipulate the model produced by a learning algorithm by adversarially modifying the training set. We consider differential privacy as a defensive measure against this type of attack. We show that such learners are resistant to data poisoning attacks when the adversary is only able to poison a small number of items ...
