RisingTides: An Analytic Modeling Code of Tidal Effects in Binary Neutron Star Mergers

open access: yesAstronomy
Gravitational waves produced by binary neutron star mergers offer a unique window into matter behavior under extreme conditions. In this context, we analytically model the effect of matter on gravitational waves from binary neutron star mergers. We start

SWIGLAL: Python and Octave interfaces to the LALSuite gravitational-wave data analysis libraries

open access: yesSoftwareX, 2020
The LALSuite data analysis libraries, written in C, implement key routines critical to the successful detection of gravitational waves, such as the template waveforms describing the merger of two black holes or two neutron stars.

A Risk Management Model for Merger and Acquisitio [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
In this paper, a merger and acquisition risk management model is proposed for considering risk factors in the merger and acquisition activities. The proposed model aims to maximize the probability of success in merger and acquisition activities ...

Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

A topic review on probing primordial black hole dark matter with scalar induced gravitational waves

open access: yesiScience, 2021
Summary: Primordial black holes (PBHs) might form from the collapse of over-densed regions generated by large scalar curvature perturbations in the radiation dominated era.

An epithelial GPR35 isoform supports tumor‐associated transcriptional and metabolic phenotypes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
GPR35 generates two functionally distinct isoforms with previously unresolved roles. GPR35‐short mediates immune‐cell chemotaxis, while GPR35‐long is enriched in colorectal cancer epithelium, where it supports increased metabolism, proliferation, and tumor‐associated transcriptional programs.

Formation of the first three gravitational-wave observations through isolated binary evolution

open access: yesNature Communications, 2017
Advanced LIGO has detected gravitational waves from two binary black hole mergers, plus a merger candidate. Here the authors use the COMPAS code to show that all three events can be explained by a single evolutionary channel via a common envelope phase ...

The First Detection of Gravitational Waves

open access: yesUniverse, 2017
This article deals with the first detection of gravitational waves by the advanced Laser Interferometer Gravitational Wave Observatory (LIGO) detectors on 14 September 2015, where the signal was generated by two stellar mass black holes with masses 36

Ligand‐dependent transcriptional heterogeneity in cell cycle gene expression delays G1/S entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
EGF and HRG induce distinct G1/S progression programs in ErbB2‐amplified BT474 breast cancer cells. Despite activating the potent ErbB2–ErbB3 heterodimer, HRG does not accelerate cell‐cycle entry. Instead, EGF promotes earlier restriction‐point passage via ERK–FOS signaling, whereas HRG activates the AKT–MYC axis, driving transcriptional heterogeneity ...
