AN OVERVIEW ON THE DETERMINANTS OF MERGERS AND ACQUISITIONS WAVES [PDF]

open access: yesAnnals of the University of Oradea: Economic Science, 2012
This paper concentrates on the presentation of the economic dimension of the mergers and acquisitions from a macroeconomic perspective. Thus, the objective of this paper is to reveal the main drivers of merger and acquisition activity.

Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.

GW170817: A Short Review of the First Multimessenger Event in Gravitational Astronomy

open access: yesGalaxies
The first detection of gravitational waves from the binary black merger GW150914 started the era of gravitational astronomy. The observation of the binary neutron star merger GW170817 and of its associated electromagnetic counterpart GRB 170817A started ...

Investigating the Poor Match among Different Precessing Gravitational Waveforms

open access: yesUniverse, 2018
The sixfold direct detection of gravitational waves opened the era of gravitational wave astronomy. All of these gravitational waves were emitted by black hole or neutron star binaries.

Ontology‐Aligned Structuring and Reuse of Multimodal Materials Data and Workflows Toward Automatic Reproduction

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Reproduction of stacking fault energy calculations from literature with a semi‐automated large language model‐assisted extraction procedure: extraction of simulation protocol, atomistic structures, computational parameters, and reported results, ontology alignment, knowledge graph construction and, finally, recomputation forvalidation.

Modified gravity (MOG), the speed of gravitational radiation and the event GW170817/GRB170817A

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 2018
Modified gravity (MOG) is a covariant, relativistic, alternative gravitational theory whose field equations are derived from an action that supplements the spacetime metric tensor with vector and scalar fields.

Maximum Redshift of Gravitational Wave Merger Events

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2017
Future generation of gravitational wave detectors will have the sensitivity to detect gravitational wave events at redshifts far beyond any detectable electromagnetic sources. We show that if the observed event rate is greater than one event per year at redshifts z > 40, then the probability distribution of primordial density fluctuations must be ...

Primordial Black Hole Mergers as Probes of Dark Matter in the Galactic Center

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Primordial black holes (PBHs) from the early Universe that can contribute to dark matter (DM) abundance have been linked to gravitational-wave observations. Supermassive black holes at the centers of galaxies are expected to modify the distribution of DM

Microstructure Reconstruction in Battery Electrodes Using Machine Learning Based on Low‐Voltage Focused Ion Beam–Scanning Electron Microscopy Tomography Images

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Low‐voltage FIB‐SEM tomography combined with a image preprocessing pipeline improves phase contrast and enables reliable machine‐learning segmentation of conductive networks in lithium‐ion battery electrodes. Structural descriptors are extracted from segmented images, done semimanually and automated, and compared.
