Mitochondrial DNA Part A, 2015
Meriones libycus belongs to the genus Meriones in Gerbillinae, its complete mitochondrial genome is 16,341 bp in length. The heavy strand contains 32.8% A, 13.1% G, 25.3% C, 28.8% T, protein-coding genes approximately accounting for 69.54%. Results of phylogenetic analysis showed that M. libycus and Meriones unguiculatus were clustered together, and it

Anaplasma bovis and Bartonella spp. in Libyan Jirds (Meriones libycus) from China
Journal of Wildlife DiseasesAnaplasma bovis (1), Bartonella krasnovii (3), and Bartonella sp. (17) were detected in 80 Libyan jirds (Meriones libycus) from China. These findings extend the known host and geographic ranges of these pathogens, with neither A. bovis nor B. krasnovii previously confirmed in Libyan jirds.

Abstract Twenty-nine adult specimens of the Libyan Jird, Meriones libycus, were collected from semi-arid areas to the east and north of Damascus city. The external morphology and biometric measurements for these specimens are discussed. Skull, cheek tooth structure, phallus, glans penis and baculum shape are illustrated.

[Spatial memory of Meriones libycus (Rodienta, Gerbillidae)].
Comptes rendus de l'Academie des sciences. Serie III, Sciences de la vie, 1992Meriones libycus, a desert rodent with a large home range, has a good spatial memory over at least 90 days, which makes it able to travel for a long way and come back to its nest. Males have a better spatial memory than females.

The molecular mechanisms operating on a seasonal time-scale and regulating functions such as reproduction are poorly understood in animals living in desert environments. Kisspeptin, the product of the KiSS-1 gene, plays a critical role in control of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonad axis that orchestrates the reproductive system in vertebrates.

Cutaneous leishmaniasis (CL) is an increasing public-health problem in the countries of the Mediterranean region. In southern Iran, for example, the incidence of CL has more than doubled over the last decade. As part of an investigation of this worrying trend, the leishmanial infections of the wild rodents that may act as reservoir hosts were ...
