Age composition, growth, and mortality of European hake Merluccius merluccius (Actinopterygii: Gadiformes: Merlucciidae) from the northern Aegean Sea, Turkey [PDF]

open access: yesActa Ichthyologica et Piscatoria, 2019
Background. This study is the first attempt to acquire information about growth, age composition, and mortality of European hake, Merluccius merluccius (Linneaus, 1758), in the northern Aegean Sea.

POLYCYCLIC AROMATIC HYDROCARBONS (PAHS) IN SEAFOODS CAUGHT IN CORIGLIANO CALABRO GULF (CS,ITALY)

open access: yesItalian Journal of Food Safety, 2012
Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) were determined by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with fluorescence detection in seafoods (Merluccius merluccius, Arnoglossus laterna, Scomber japonicus, Penaeus kerathurus, Eledone cirrhosa ...

Gonadotropin characterization, localization and expression in the European hake ( Merluccius merluccius ) [PDF]

open access: yesReproduction, 2017
Abstract In vertebrates, the regulation of gametogenesis is under the control of gonadotropins (Gth), follicle-stimulating hormone (Fsh) and luteinizing hormone (Lh). In fish, the physiological role of Gths is not fully understood, especially in species with asynchronous ovarian development.

PCR-SSCP of the 16S rRNA gene, a simple methodology for species identification of fish eggs and larvae

open access: yesScientia Marina, 2006
Patterns of the 16S rRNA gene obtained in 8 and 12% acrylamide gels by the SSCP (Single Strand Conformation Polymorphism) method were different for various marine fish species (Macrorhamphosus scolopax, Scomber scombrus, Lepidorhombus boscii, L ...

A model for the biochemical degradation of inosine monophosphate in hake ( Merluccius merluccius ) [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Food Engineering, 2017
ATP-derived products are typically used as early indicators of fish quality loss during storage. In this work, we explore different biochemical routes that are potentially relevant in contributing to nucleotide degradation in hake (Merluccius merluccius).

Recruitment dynamics of eight fishery species in the northwest Mediterranean Sea

open access: yesScientia Marina, 2002
The recruitment dynamics into the fishery of eight species in the northwestern Mediterranean Sea was studied on the basis of a monthly length sampling on commercial landings lasting one year (March 1999-February 2000). The results show that three species

Growth and mortality of the European hake Merluccius merluccius (Linnaeus, 1758) from the North of Moroccan Atlantic coasts

open access: yesEgyptian Journal of Aquatic Research, 2022
Growth and mortality studies on fish are considered crucial to the comprehension of species biology and population dynamics. This work aims to study the growth and mortality of Merluccius merluccius (Linnaeus, 1758) from the North Atlantic coasts of ...

Allozymic variation in Mediterranean hakeMerluccius merluccius(Gadidae) [PDF]

open access: yesItalian Journal of Zoology, 1998
Abstract Four hundred and twenty individual hake from 10 sample sites in the Mediterranean Sea were analysed in order to study genetic variability and identify genetic stock structure. Twenty loci were identified, four of which were polymorphic at the 95% level: ADH*, PGI‐1*, PGI‐2* and SOD‐1*.
