Aneurysm of the Inferior Mesenteric Artery

Cardiovascular Surgery, 1993
The case of a 48-year-old man with an aneurysm of the inferior mesenteric artery is described. This aneurysm was associated with extensive vascular disease characterized by multiple sites of stenosis and occlusion in addition to an upper abdominal aortic aneurysm.

Hemodynamics of the inferior mesenteric arterial circulation

Journal of Vascular Surgery, 1990
The purpose of this study was to determine the significance of collateral supply from the hypogastric arteries (HGAs) to the inferior mesenteric arterial (IMA) bed. Peak systolic "stump" IMA and radial arterial pressures were obtained before and after clamping the right HGA, the left HGA, both HGAs, the middle colic artery (MCA) only, or the MCA plus ...

Inferior Mesenteric Arterial Patterns

Radiology, 1964
The importance of lesions of the segment of the gut supplied by the inferior mesenteric artery is hardly reflected by the volume of literature concerning this vascular bed. Over 75 per cent of all polyps and cancers of the colon occur in the area of distribution of this artery.

Mycotic aneurysm of the inferior mesenteric artery

The American Journal of Surgery, 1979
This is the first reported case of successful management of a mycotic aneurysm of the inferior mesenteric artery. The only helpful clinical manifestations were episodes of previous abdominal pain and a history of bacterial endocarditis. The surgical management involved simple excision without revascularization of the inferior mesenteric artery.

Inferior Mesenteric Artery Reimplantation

2021
When the aortic aneurysm is entered, the orifice of the inferior mesenteric artery should be inspected. If pulsatile backbleeding is noted, it is usually safe to oversew the origin of the inferior mesenteric artery. The orifice is suture ligated from within the aneurysmal lumen to avoid injury to its branches, especially at the junction of the left ...

Renal artery originating from the inferior mesenteric artery

The British Journal of Radiology, 1979
The arterial supply to the kidneys is variable. Many papers have been written dealing with the blood supply to normal and congenitally abnormal kidneys (Anson et al., 1936; Graves, 1956; Merklin and Michels, 1958; Olsson and Wholey, 1964). Variations in the number of renal arteries are very frequent and, indeed, a single renal artery may be present in ...

Inferior Mesenteric Artery Stenting: A Solution for Chronic Mesenteric Ischemia

Perspectives in Vascular Surgery and Endovascular Therapy, 2009
Chronic mesenteric ischemia (CMI) is a rare entity with potentially tragic consequences. Meanwhile, there is still no consensus regarding the most adequate treatment approach. The authors herein report a case of a 65-year-old woman with severe CMI as a result of an occlusion of both the celiac artery (CA) and superior mesenteric artery (SMA) and a ...

Inferior Mesenteric Artery Aneurysm Associated with Occlusion of the Superior Mesenteric and Celiac Arteries

Annals of Vascular Surgery, 2001
We report a case of a large aneurysm of the inferior mesenteric artery that extended from its origin to bifurcation in the left colic and sigmoidal arteries, and was associated with occlusion of the celiac and superior mesenteric arteries in a 64-year-old patient. The diagnosis was made by arteriography.

Inferior mesenteric artery aneurysms.

Surgery, 1985
Two patients were treated for asymptomatic aneurysms of the inferior mesenteric artery during reconstructive operation for infrarenal aortic disease. These lesions were discovered incidentally during arteriographic study in one case and during operation in the second case.

Rare case of the inferior mesenteric artery arising from the superior mesenteric artery

The Anatomical Record, 1987
AbstractThe authors observed a variation of the inferior mesenteric artery, which arose from the superior mesenteric artery, in a 69‐year‐old Japanese male cadaver during dissection in 1984. In this case, no rudiment of the ordinary inferior mesenteric artery could be found on the abdominal aorta.
