Hippo pathway at the crossroads of stemness and therapeutic resistance in breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dysregulation of the Hippo pathway drives nuclear accumulation of YAP/TAZ, activating stemness‐related transcriptional programs that sustain breast cancer stemness and fuel therapeutic resistance across subtypes, underscoring Hippo signaling as a targetable vulnerability. Figure created and edited with BioRender.com.

The mesh debate [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Urogynecology Journal, 2011
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) published asecond warning to medical practitioners and patients on“Complications Associated with Transvaginal Placement ofSurgical Mesh for Pelvic Organ Prolapse” in July 2011.Following this, on the advice of legal advisors the researchand ethics committee of one of our hospitals (P.L.D)recommended that no ...

Interpreting the effects of DNA polymerase variants at the structural level

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using MAVISp and molecular dynamics simulations, we analyzed over 60 000 missense variants in POLE and POLD1 from ClinVar, COSMIC, cBioPortal, and saturation mutagenesis. Identified mechanistic indicators, including stability, binding, and long‐range, enable structural interpretation, providing ACMG‐like evidence for possible reclassification of VUS ...

Quantitative Characterization of Macrophage, Lymphocyte, and Neutrophil Subtypes Within the Foreign Body Granuloma of Human Mesh Explants by 5-Marker Multiplex Fluorescence Microscopy

open access: yesFrontiers in Medicine, 2022
Foreign bodies such as fibers of a surgical mesh induce a typical reaction with an inflammatory infiltrate that forms a surrounding granuloma. This infiltrate is dominated by macrophages, lymphocytes, and neutrophils, whereas its extent of collaboration ...

A novel quinazolinone insulin receptor inhibitor and its synergy with an EGFR inhibitor in glucose‐driven glioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The novel styrylquinazolinone‐based molecule W1B effectively suppresses glioblastoma by inhibiting IGF1R and EGFR. In high‐glucose microenvironments driving tumor resistance, W1B acts synergistically with the EGFR inhibitor dacomitinib. This combination safely blocks compensatory survival signaling in zebrafish xenograft models. Showcasing promising in

THE LONG-TERM RESULTS OF ENDOSURGICAL TREATMENT OF PARESISOPHAGEAL HERNIAS

open access: yesКреативная хирургия и онкология, 2017
Introduction. There is a perception that the use of a mesh for surgical treatment of paraesophageal hernias significantly reduces the number of recurrences. But considering the numerous complications associated with mesh reinforcement, there is a need of

Single-subject Single-session Temporally-Independent Functional Modes of Brain Activity

open access: yesNeuroImage, 2020
Temporally independent functional modes (TFMs) are functional brain networks identified based on their temporal independence. The rationale behind identifying TFMs is that different functional networks may share a common anatomical infrastructure yet ...

Stitch meshing [PDF]

open access: yesACM Transactions on Graphics, 2018
We introduce the first fully automatic pipeline to convert arbitrary 3D shapes into knit models. Our pipeline is based on a global parametrization remeshing pipeline to produce an isotropic quad-dominant mesh aligned with a 2-RoSy field. The knitting directions over the surface are determined using a set of custom topological operations and a two-step ...

Exon 7 splicing of ERα predicts poor prognosis and increases phenotypic heterogeneity in luminal a subtype breast cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
ERα splice variant ERα∆7 lacks the C‐terminus, and its expression may change phenotypes of breast cancers. Our results showed that ERα∆7 is found in the luminal A subtype, and elevated ERα∆7 levels are linked to improved cell survival with lower proliferation and migration.
