Shielding effect of tungsten mesh on gamma ray and X-rays irradiations
The radiation shielding effects on the gamma ray with the effective energy Ee = 661.7 keV and X-rays with that of Ee = 74 keV and 38 keV were examined by using the tungsten-mesh (W-Mesh) made of the tungsten wires of 18μm and 50μm, as candidate for ...

Evolutionarily divergent DUF4465 domains have a common vitamin B12‐binding function
We show that DUF4465 family proteins, widespread across bacteria from gut microbiomes, hydrothermal vents, and soil, share a common vitamin B12‐binding function. These augmented β‐jellyroll proteins bind vitamin B12 via extended loops. Our findings establish sequence‐diverse DUF4465 proteins as a widespread class of B12‐binding proteins, highlighting ...

Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

For modeling the 3D world behind 2D images, which 3D representation is most appropriate? A polygon mesh is a promising candidate for its compactness and geometric properties. However, it is not straightforward to model a polygon mesh from 2D images using

Mesh patterns with superfluous mesh
Mesh patterns are a generalization of classical permutation patterns that encompass classical, bivincular, Bruhat-restricted patterns, and some barred patterns. In this paper, we describe all mesh patterns whose avoidance is coincident with classical avoidance, in a sense declaring that the additional data of a mesh was unnecessary for these patterns ...

Lessons Learned From a Delayed‐Start Trial of Modafinil for Freezing of Gait in Parkinson's Disease
ABSTRACT Objective Freezing of gait (FOG) in people with Parkinson's disease (PwPD) is debilitating and has limited treatments. Modafinil modulates beta/gamma band activity in the pedunculopontine nucleus (PPN), like PPN deep brain stimulation. We therefore tested the hypothesis that Modafinil would improve FOG in PwPD.

Performance Analysis for Mesh and Mesh-Spectral Archetype Applications [PDF]
This document outlines a simple method for benchmarking a parallel communication library and for using the results to model the performance of applications developed with that communication library. We use compositional performance analysis - decomposing

ABSTRACT Objective Status epilepticus (SE) is associated with significant mortality. Sleep architecture may reflect normal brain function. Impaired sleep architecture is associated with poorer outcomes in numerous conditions. Here we investigate the association of sleep architecture in continuous EEG (cEEG) with survival in SE.

Laparoscopic preperitoneal mesh repair using a novel self-adhesive mesh
Prosthetic mesh is now used routinely in inguinal hernia repairs, although its fixation is thought to be a potential cause of chronic groin pain. The Parietene ProGrip™ (TYCO Healthcare) mesh, which is semi-resorbable and incorporates self-fixing ...
