An adaptive gridding technique for conservation laws on complex domains [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
Obtaining accurate solutions to flows that involve discontinuous features still re- mains one of the most difficult tasks in computational fluid dynamics today.

Facetwise Mesh Refinement for Multi- View Stereo

open access: yes, 2021
Mesh refinement is a fundamental step for accurate Multi-View Stereo. It modifies the geometry of an initial manifold mesh to minimize the photometric error induced in a set of camera pairs.

Direct Metal Deposition of Graphene–Ti28Nb35.4Zr Matrix Composites With Enhanced Mechanical, Corrosion, and Biocompatibility Properties for Bone Implants

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Graphene nanoplatelet (0.1 wt.%) reinforcement significantly enhances the performance of β Ti‐28Nb‐35.4Zr alloy. Grain refinement, reduced water contact angle, and improved surface characteristics promote osteoblast adhesion and complete surface coverage after 7 days.

Sparse Parallel Delaunay Mesh Refinement

open access: yes, 2006
The authors recently introduced the technique of sparse mesh refinement to produce the first nearoptimal sequential time bounds of O(n lg L/s+m) for inputs in any fixed dimension with piecewiselinear constraining (PLC) features.

Electrochemical Behavior of Flame‐Sprayed Sc‐Doped AlCoCrFeMo High‐Entropy Alloy Coatings in 3.5% Sodium Chloride Solution

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Scandium (Sc)‐doped AlCoCrFeMo HEA coatings are fabricated via flame spraying with 0.1, 0.3, and 0.5 wt% Sc additions. Among these, the HEA‐Sc0.3 coating exhibits the highest corrosion resistance, indicated by a more positive corrosion potential and lower current density.

DG Methods for Aerodynamic Flows: Higher order, error estimation and adaptive mesh refinement

open access: yes, 2011
Discontinuous Galerkin (DG) methods allow higher-order flow solutions on unstructured or locally refined meshes by increasing the polynomial degree and using curved instead of straight-sided elements. Aerodynamic force coefficients like the drag, lift

Mesh refinement strategies for solving singularly perturbed reaction-diffusion problems

open access: yes, 2001
We consider the numerical approximation of a singularly perturbed reaction-diffusion problem over a square. Two different approaches are compared namely: adaptive isotropic mesh refinement and anisotropic mesh refinement.
