Mixing‐Driven Defects and Composition Evolution in Multi‐Material Metal Additive Manufacturing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Operando synchrotron X‐ray imaging coupled with high‐fidelity multiphysics modeling uncovers how inter‐material mixing reshapes keyhole dynamics and drives distinct pore‐formation pathways in multi‐material laser powder bed fusion (LPBF). Composition‐dependent instabilities trigger defects, whereas rescanning suppresses porosity and homogenizes Cu ...

Methodological Approach for Particle Transport: Analyzing Influential Factors and Comparing Simulation Software

open access: yesChemie Ingenieur Technik, EarlyView.
This study determines the dust filtration behavior of venting tubes in automotive headlights. Numerical simulations using Meshfree and STAR‐CCM+ and suitable experiments were conducted to analyze the airflow field, the particle transport, and the filtration efficiency.

Chebyshev Smoothing With Adaptive Block‐FSAI Preconditioners for the Multilevel Solution of Higher‐Order Problems With the Partition of Unity Method

open access: yesNumerical Linear Algebra with Applications, Volume 33, Issue 3, June 2026.
ABSTRACT In this paper, we assess the performance of adaptive and nested factorized sparse approximate inverses as smoothers in multilevel V‐cycles, when smoothing is performed following the Chebyshev iteration of the fourth kind, for the efficient solution of linear systems arising from a conforming discretization of higher‐order partial differential ...

Enabling Digital Continuity in Virtual Manufacturing for Eco‐Efficiency Assessment of Lightweight Structures by Means of a Domain‐Specific Structural Mechanics Language: Requirements, Idea and Proof of Concept

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 28, Issue 7, 8 April 2026.
This article presents a solver‐agnostic domain‐specific language (DSL) for computational structural mechanics that strengthens interoperability in virtual product development. Using a hierarchical data model, the DSL enables seamless exchange between diverse simulation tools and numerical methods.

Large Deformation Pile‐soil Interaction Under Lateral Vehicle Impact Using Hybrid SPH+FEM and EFG+FEM Models

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical and Analytical Methods in Geomechanics, Volume 50, Issue 5, Page 2648-2669, 10 April 2026.
ABSTRACT This study presents large deformation computational methods to simulate lateral vehicular impacts on steel piles in granular soil. Soil‐mounted longitudinal barrier systems rely on energy dissipation in both the piles and the surrounding soil to safely redirect errant vehicles, so dynamic pile‐soil interaction is important for design ...

Large Deformation, Pressure‐Driven Mechanistic Modeling of the 2018 Caldera Collapse at Kīlauea Volcano, HI

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, Volume 131, Issue 4, April 2026.
Abstract Volcanic calderas are large depressions formed by the rapid collapse of overlying rock into a magma chamber during eruptions. We utilize Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH), a continuum, meshfree numerical method, to study the 2018 caldera collapse at Kīlauea volcano in Hawaii.

Numerical Analysis of a Benjamin–Bona–Mahony Type Equation in a Noncylindrical Domain

open access: yesMathematical Methods in the Applied Sciences, Volume 49, Issue 2, Page 818-834, 30 January 2026.
ABSTRACT Numerical analysis and simulation for the approximate solution of a Benjamin–Bona–Mahony type equation defined in a noncylindrical domain are presented in this article. The approximate problem is defined using the linearized Crank–Nicolson Galerkin method, which results in a linear algebraic system at each time step while maintaining quadratic

Study on the Post‐Target Effect of Polyurea‐Coated Aluminum Plate Subjected to High‐Velocity Impact

open access: yesAdvances in Polymer Technology, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
High‐velocity fragment impact on aircraft thin‐walled aluminum alloy structures typically induces severe debris cloud generation, which causes widespread secondary damage to internal equipment and greatly impairs structural survivability and post‐damage repairability.
