Investigating the Effect of Water Contamination on Gearbox Lubrication based on Motor Control Data from a Sensorless Drive [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Water is one of the most significant destructive contaminations to lubricants which in turn lead to more power consumption and early damage to rotating machines.

Separation Performance of Wire-mesh Demister

open access: yesJOURNAL OF THE MARINE ENGINEERING SOCIETY IN JAPAN, 1982
Effects of the number of layers on the separation performance of wire-mesh demisters have been studied in a horizontal flow of air laden with water droplets. Two kinds of the demisters used are constructed by galvanized iron wires 300 μm and 850 μm in diameter respectively, which are held perpendicular to the air flow direction.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Computerized Generation and Surface Deviation Correction of Ruled Surface for Face Gear Drives

open access: yesApplied Sciences
In order to solve the problems of low efficiency and complex cutting tools in conventional face gear machining, this paper presents a machining method of ruled surface face gears with conical cutters and proposes a new pinion to correct deviation and its

Study on the Coupling Relationship between Wear and Dynamics in Planetary Gear Systems

open access: yesMachines, 2023
The occurrence of wear is hard to avoid in gear systems because of their transmission principle. Wear will lead to a deviation of the system’s performance from the design objectives or even failure.

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

Dynamic Modeling and Nonlinear Analysis of a Spur Gear System Considering a Nonuniformly Distributed Meshing Force

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2022
In previous studies, the meshing force of a gear system is usually treated as being uniformly distributed for the convenience of analysis. In practical applications, however, it is nonuniformly distributed along the line of action due to machining errors,
