Generalized Stiffness Gear-Mesh Matrix Including EHD Stiffness
ASME/STLE 2007 International Joint Tribology Conference, Parts A and B, 2007This paper presents a method to compute gear mesh stiffness based on the EHD behavior by combined finite element solution of the Reynolds Equation with the elastic contact model. It is shown that this solution requires iterative procedure to balance the computed pressure profile with the external nominal transmission load.

On the Stiffness of the Mesh and Urethral Mobility: A Finite Element Analysis
Journal of Biomechanical Engineering, 2017Midurethral slings are used to correct urethral hypermobility in female stress urinary incontinence (SUI), defined as the complaint of involuntary urine leakage when the intra-abdominal pressure (IAP) is increased. Structural and thermal features influence their mechanical properties, which may explain postoperative complications, e.g., erosion and ...

Scalable Mesh Deformation with Controllable Stiffness
2013 International Conference on Computer-Aided Design and Computer Graphics, 2013This paper presents an efficient and physics-plausible deformation algorithm. A simplification is first conducted on the original mesh, then the deformation of the simplified mesh is passed to the original mesh to obtain an initial result. Then a set of optimal rigid transformations are computed to preserve the shape features and control the surface ...

Topography Compensation for Haptization of a Mesh Object and Its Stiffness Distribution
IEEE Transactions on Haptics, 2015This work was motivated by the need for perceptualizing nano-scale scientific data, e.g., those acquired by a scanning probe microscope, where collocated topography and stiffness distribution of a surface can be measured. Previous research showed that when the topography of a surface with spatially varying stiffness is rendered using the conventional ...

Dynamic Analysis of a Multi-Mesh Gear System With Mesh Stiffness Variation
Volume 5: 25th International Conference on Design Theory and Methodology; ASME 2013 Power Transmission and Gearing Conference, 2013Parameter excited oscillations induced by the varying tooth mesh stiffnesses of the gear pairs cause severe vibration in gear systems. The oscillations become more complex and serious in multi-mesh gear system because more mesh stiffnesses variation occur, which are necessary to be investigated in deeply. To illustrate the complex oscillation phenomena,

Study on Nonlinear Meshing Stiffness of Spline
2015In the study on the dynamic characteristics of spline rotor system, the spline stiffness is simplified as the constant related with single tooth stiffness. Based on spline single tooth stiffness calculation, according to spline deformation, stress and torque, spline transverse meshing stiffness model is established, and the numerical simulation ...

Calculation of Gear Meshing Stiffness Considering Lubrication
Journal of Tribology, 2019Abstract Gear meshing stiffness is the key parameter to study the gear dynamic performance. However, the study on the calculation of gear meshing stiffness considering lubrication, especially mixed lubrication, is still insufficient. Based on the three-dimensional linear contact mixed elastohydrodynamic lubrication model and the contact ...

Back-Side Contact Gear Mesh Stiffness
Volume 8: 11th International Power Transmission and Gearing Conference; 13th International Conference on Advanced Vehicle and Tire Technologies, 2011Back-side gear tooth contact happens when the anti-backlash (or scissor) gears are applied or tooth wedging occurs. An accurate description of the back-side gear tooth mesh stiffness is important to any study on gear dynamics that involves tooth wedging or anti-backlash mechanism.

Gear Mesh Stiffness and Damping Co-simulation
2020In this paper it is described a co-simulation between a multibody dynamics system (built in MSC.ADAMS®) and a gear mesh stiffness and damping model implemented by means of block diagrams (MATLAB/Simulink®). The total knowledge about the gear pair model is valuable when modelling and analyzing dynamic systems sensitive to the mesh varying properties ...

A Comparison of Gear Mesh Stiffness Modeling Strategies
2011Gearboxes are prone to numerous faults that require vibration health monitoring to ensure proper operation. Monitoring methods typically employ casing mounted accelerometers. This data is difficult to interpret because of the many gear mesh frequencies present and is further complicated by the presence of significant amounts of noise. Several different
