A study of spur gear torsional mesh stiffness

International Technology and Innovation Conference 2009 (ITIC 2009), 2009
Through applying finite element methods (FEM),the results of a detailed three-dimensional analysis of the torsional mesh stiffness of spur gears were presented in this paper. Hertz formula can only calculate the contact stress approximately, while FEM can be used to conduct precise analysis of the tooth contact stress and deformation.

Influences of friction and mesh misalignment on time-varying mesh stiffness of helical gears

Journal of Mechanical Science and Technology, 2017
As one of the most important excitation sources of vibration, time-varying mesh stiffness of helical gear pairs need accurately calculated. Compared with spur gears, friction in helical gears is significant. This work for the first time presents an improved calculation method for the mesh stiffness of helical gears with effect of friction incorporated.

Mesh selection for stiff two-point boundary value problems

Numerical Algorithms, 1994
The general structure of COLSYS is reviewed, in particular, some theoretical properties of collocation at Gaussian points are stated and it is demonstrated how these properties lead to the derivation of the algorithms for error estimation and mesh selection.

Equivalent Conversion Calculation of Straight Bevel Gear Mesh Stiffness

2009 Fifth International Conference on Natural Computation, 2009
Based on analyzing the defects of the usual equivalent conversion methods, the paper presents a new equivalent conversion method for mesh stiffness calculation of straight bevel gears of the small teeth number and diameter. By means of comparison among the different calculation methods, the conclusions can be obtained as follow: The straight bevel gear’

An Improved Method to Calculate the Meshing Stiffness of Helical Gear

Advanced Materials Research, 2012
The meshing-stiffness of a helical gear pair is one of important parameters to study dynamic characteristics of gear transmission system. However, the equation to solve the meshing stiffness is very complex and difficult to get it. We put up with an improved method to quickly calculate the meshing stiffness through analyzing the meshing process and ...

An Improved Model for Calculating the Mesh Stiffness of Helical Gears

Volume 10: 2019 International Power Transmission and Gearing Conference, 2019
Abstract Time-varying mesh stiffness (TVMS) is one of the important internal excitations of gear transmission systems. Accurate solution of meshing stiffness is the key to research the vibration response of gear transmission system. In the traditional analytical method (TAM), the TVMS of single-teeth engaged region consist of bending ...
