Mathematical models for the synthesis and optimization of spiral bevel gear tooth surfaces [PDF]

open access: yes
The geometry of spiral bevel gears and to their rational design are studied. The nonconjugate tooth surfaces of spiral bevel gears are, in theory, replaced (or approximated) by conjugated tooth surfaces.

A basis for the analysis of surface geometry of spiral bevel gears [PDF]

open access: yes, 1983
Geometrical procedures helpful in the fundamental studies of the surface geometry of spiral bevel gears are summarized. These procedures are based upon: (1) fundamental gear geometry and kinematics as exposited by Buckingham, et al; (2) formulas ...

Bio‐Orthogonally Crosslinked Supramolecular Polymer Bottlebrush Hydrogels for Long‐Term 3D Cell Culture

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Fibrous benzenetrispeptide (BTP) hydrogels, fabricated via strain‐promoted azide‐alkyne cycloaddition (SPAAC) crosslinking, form robust, bioinert networks. These hydrogels can support 3D cell culture, where cell viability and colony growth depend on the fiber content.

Block-structured Adaptive Mesh Refinement - Theory, Implementation and Application [PDF]

open access: yesESAIM: Proceedings, 2011
Structured adaptive mesh refinement (SAMR) techniques can enable cutting-edge simulations of problems governed by conservation laws. Focusing on the strictly hyperbolic case, these notes explain all algorithmic and mathematical details of a technically relevant implementation tailored for distributed memory computers.

From Single Atoms to Nanoparticles: Pathways Toward Efficient and Durable Pt/TiO2 Photocatalysts

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Platinum single atoms on TiO2 nanosheets evolve into clusters and nanoparticles under ethanol photoreforming and thermal treatments. By controlling deposition and post‐treatments, particle size and location on specific facets are modulated. The study reveals how stability pathways determine efficiency, guiding the design of more durable photocatalysts.

Multiscale Homogenization-Based Modeling of Micro-EHL and Load-Bearing Performance in Textured Gear Interfaces

open access: yesApplied Sciences
In the ElastoHydrodynamic Lubrication (EHL) meshing contact model for rough interfaces with convex–concave textured micro-asperities, the geometric morphology of the meshing interface exhibits pronounced multiscale characteristics: the macroscale ...

Predicting Atomic Charges in MOFs by Topological Charge Equilibration

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An atomic charge prediction method is presented that is able to accurately reproduce ab‐initio‐derived reference charges for a large number of metal–organic frameworks. Based on a topological charge equilibration scheme, static charges that fulfill overall neutrality are quickly generated.

Stacking‐Engineered Magnonic Topology and Transport in Honeycomb Homobilayers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Topological magnons have emerged as a promising platform for dissipationless bosonic transport. However, a straightforward and effective strategy to engineer such topological states in real materials has yet to be fully realized. Here, a general scheme for controlling magnonic topological states via stacking engineering in van der Waals ...

Influence of Radial Deformation on Stress of Flexspline and Meshing Characteristic of Harmonic Reducer

open access: yesJixie chuandong, 2017
The radial deformation is one of the important parameters that affect meshing characteristic and the life of flexspline in harmonic reducer. Based on envelope meshing theory of harmonic drive, the influence of radial deformation on meshing characteristic ...

Spiral bevel and circular arc helical gears: Tooth contact analysis and the effect of misalignment on circular arc helical gears [PDF]

open access: yes
A computer aided method for tooth contact analysis was developed and applied. Optimal machine-tool settings for spiral bevel gears are proposed and when applied indicated that kinematic errors can be minimized while maintaining a desirable bearing ...
