A New Sinusoidal Shear Deformation Theory for Static Bending Analysis of Functionally Graded Plates Resting on Winkler–Pasternak Foundations

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, Volume 2021, Issue 1, 2021., 2021
In this article, a new sinusoidal shear deformation theory was developed for static bending analysis of functionally graded plates resting on elastic foundations. The proposed theory used an undefined integral term to reduce the number of the unknown to four without any shear correction factors.

Numerical Investigation on Improving the Computational Efficiency of the Material Point Method

open access: yesMathematical Problems in Engineering, Volume 2021, Issue 1, 2021., 2021
Based on the basic theory of the material point method (MPM), the factors affecting the computational efficiency are analyzed and discussed, and the problem of improving calculation efficiency is studied. This paper introduces a mirror reflection boundary condition to the MPM to solve axisymmetric problems; to improve the computational efficiency of ...

Meshless Modelling of Laminate Mindlin Plates under Dynamic Loads

open access: yesCommunications, 2012
Collocation method and Galerkin method have been dominant in the existing meshless methods. A meshless local Petrov-Galerkin (MLPG) method is applied to solve laminate plate problems described by the Reissner-Mindlin theory for transient dynamic loads ...

Imposing boundary conditions in the meshless local Petrov–Galerkin method

open access: yesIET Science, Measurement & Technology, 2008
A particular meshless method, named meshless local Petrov-Galerkin is investigated. To treat the essential boundary condition problem, an alternative approach is proposed. The basic idea is to merge the best features of two different methods of shape function generation: the moving least squares (MLS) and the radial basis functions with polynomial ...

Numerical simulation of groundwater in an unconfined aquifer with a novel hybrid model (case study: Birjand Aquifer, Iran)

open access: yesJournal of Hydroinformatics, 2022
In recent decades, due to the population growth and low precipitation, the overexploitation of ground water resources has become an important issue. To ensure a sustainable scheme for these resources, understanding the behavior of the aquifers is a key ...
