Mesoporous Carbon Materials: Synthesis and Modification
Angewandte Chemie - International Edition, 2008AbstractPorous carbon materials are of interest in many applications because of their high surface area and physicochemical properties. Conventional syntheses can only produce randomly porous materials, with little control over the pore‐size distributions, let alone mesostructures.

Mesoporous Activated Carbon Filaments
MRS Proceedings, 1996ABSTRACTActivated carbon filaments of diameter ∼0.1 μm, main pore size (BJH) 55 Å, specific surface area 1310 m2/g and yield 36.2% were obtained by activating carbon filaments of diameter ∼ 0.1 urn in C02 + N2 (1:1) at 970°C for 80 min. Prior to this activation, the filaments were surface oxidized by exposure to ozone.

Advanced Materials, 2001
Ordered mesoporous carbons have recently been synthesized using ordered mesoporous silica templates. The synthesis procedure involves infiltration of the pores of the template with appropriate carbon precursor, its carbonization, and subsequent template removal.

Reversible replication between ordered mesoporous silica and mesoporous carbon
Chemical Communications, 2002Highly ordered mesoporous silica can be regenerated from a mesoporous carbon CMK-3 that is a negative replica of mesoporous silica SBA-15, indicating reversible replication between carbon and inorganic materials.

Carbon dioxide capture using polyethylenimine-loaded mesoporous carbons
Journal of Environmental Sciences, 2013A high efficiency sorbent for CO2 capture was developed by loading polyethylenimine (PEI) on mesoporous carbons which possessed well-developed mesoporous structures and large pore volume. The physicochemical properties of the sorbent were characterized by N2 adsorption/desorption, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), thermal gravimetric analysis (TG ...

Sulfur‐Functionalized Mesoporous Carbon
Advanced Functional Materials, 2007AbstractA simple synthesis route to mesoporous carbons that contain heteroaromatic functionality is described. The sulfur‐functionalized mesoporous carbon (S‐FMC) materials that have been prepared show excellent thermal stability, as well as excellent hydrothermal stability, and stability over a wide range of pH values.

Mesoporous Carbon Nanomaterials as Environmental Adsorbents
Journal of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, 2014The transportation and diffusion of the guest objects or molecules in the porous carbon nanomaterials can be facilitated by reducing the pathway and resistance. The reduced pathway depends on the porous nature of carbon nanomaterials. Classification of porous carbon materials by the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) has given a ...

Biocompatibility of Soft-Templated Mesoporous Carbons
ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces, 2014Soft-templated mesoporous carbon is morphologically a non-nano type of carbon. It is a relatively newer variety of biomaterial, which has already demonstrated its successful role in drug delivery applications. To investigate the toxicity and biocompatibility, we introduced three types of mesoporous carbons with varying synthesis conditions and pore ...

Direct synthesis of ordered mesoporous carbons
Chem. Soc. Rev., 2013Ordered mesoporous carbon materials have recently aroused great research interest because of their widespread applications in many areas such as adsorbents, catalysts and supports, gas storage hosts, and electrode materials. The direct synthesis strategy from organic-organic self-assembly involving the combination of polymerizable precursors and block ...
