Mesoproterozoic geology of the Nampula Block, northern Mozambique: Tracing fragments of Mesoproterozoic crust in the heart of Gondwana [PDF]
The Nampula Block covers over 100,000 km2, making it the largest Mesoproterozoic crustal segment in northern Mozambique and an important component of the Neoproterozoic to Cambrian (Pan-African) East African Orogen. It is bounded in the north by the WSW–ENE trending Lurio Belt.

The Mesoproterozoic sub-Heddersvatnet unconformity, Telemark, South Norway [PDF]
The 1.51 Ga Rjukan group,Telemark, S Norway, is divided into felsic volcanic rocks of the Tuddal formation and mafic rocks of the Vemork formation. It is overlain by the sedimentary rocks of the Vindeggen group (1.50-1.17 Ga), starting with the arkosic ...

A revised lower estimate of ozone columns during Earth’s oxygenated history
The history of molecular oxygen (O2) in Earth’s atmosphere is still debated; however, geological evidence supports at least two major episodes where O2 increased by an order of magnitude or more: the Great Oxidation Event (GOE) and the Neoproterozoic ...

Notable Impact of Paleotectonic Stress on Gold Mineralisation in the West Qinling Orogen
By applying fuzzy clustering and multiple inverse methods, we systematically processed the data of vein and fault slip in this ore deposit to reveal the transition of orogenic geological environment and paleotectonic stress field. Our research results show two different stress states: the northwest–southeast extensional stress field and the northeast ...

Abstract A new species of Characidium is described from a small, isolated river in the highland areas of Noel Kempff Mercado National Park, Bolivia. The new taxon can be diagnosed by the presence of a relatively broad and conspicuous dark midlateral stripe extending from the tip of snout to the base of the caudal fin, markedly darker than the vertical ...
