Improving the performance of a Publish-Subscribe message broker
2019 IEEE 22nd International Symposium on Real-Time Distributed Computing (ISORC), 2019The Arrowhead Framework, a SOA-based framework for IoT applications, provides the Event Handler system: a publish/subscribe broker implemented with REST/HTTP(S). However, the existing implementation of the Event Handler suffers from message latency problems that are not acceptable for industrial applications.

Configuring the Message Broker
2019Until now, the message broker and the cloud instance were in a functional state. We added core capabilities to our IoT platform with data access APIs. In this chapter, we modify the configuration of our MQTT broker and make it more useful, especially from an interoperability point of view.

On the Discovery of Brokers in Distributed Messaging Infrastructures
2005 IEEE International Conference on Cluster Computing, 2005Increasingly messaging infrastructures are being used to support the communication requirements of a wide variety of clients, services, and proxies thereto. Typically, for various reason this messaging infrastructure is a distributed one with multiple constituent brokers.

Rethinking Message Brokers on RDMA and NVM
Proceedings of the 2020 ACM SIGMOD International Conference on Management of Data, 2020Over the last years, message brokers have become an important part of enterprise systems. As microservice architectures gain popularity and the need to analyze data produced by these services grows, companies increasingly rely on message brokers to orchestrate the flow of events between different applications as well as between data-producing services ...

An Architecture Proposal for Enterprise Message Brokers
2001In large enterprises, asynchronous communication and messaging are gaining importance as integration solutions between applications. The concept of a message broker has been proposed as a universal mediator at the center of business. This paper gives a distinct definition of a message broker by enumerating enterprise critical criteria and describes a ...

Improving and modeling the performance of a Publish-Subscribe message broker
IECON 2019 - 45th Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2019The Event Handler – a publish-subscribe broker implemented over REST/HTTP(S) – is an auxiliary system of the Arrowhead framework for IoT applications. During this work we found that the existing implementation of the Event Handler suffers from serious performance issues.

A flexible and scalable message broker for sensor network integration
Proceedings of the Fourth International ICST Conference on COMmunication System softWAre and middlewaRE, 2009Sensor network technologies have experienced an enormous development with the proliferation of sensor devices, custom communication protocols, and methods to exploit the data gathered on such networks. The actual impact of this technology on the enterprise, however, has been quite limited. This is because the community has focused almost exclusively on
