Meta-Analysis [PDF]

open access: yesChest, 2020
When a review is performed following predefined steps (ie, systematically) and its results are quantitatively analyzed, it is called meta-analysis. Publication of meta-analyses has increased exponentially in pubmed.gov; using the key word "meta-analysis," 1,473 titles were yielded in 2007 and 176,704 on January 2020.

A parametric meta‐analysis

open access: yesStatistics in Medicine, 2019
In a meta‐analysis, we assemble a sample of independent, nonidentically distributed p‐values. The Fisher's combination procedure provides a chi‐squared test of whether the p‐values were sampled from the null uniform distribution. After rejecting the null uniform hypothesis, we are faced with the problem of how to combine the assembled p‐values.

Meta-analysis in Otolaryngology [PDF]

open access: yesArchives of Otolaryngology–Head & Neck Surgery, 2000
To examine the results of meta-analyses in otolaryngology and compare these results with the individual component studies that constitute each meta-analysis.A retrospective review of the literature.Studies that conducted pooled statistical systematic analyses indexed on MEDLINE for the 10-year period from January 1989 to January 1999 were selected for ...

Meta‐Analysis Methods

open access: yes, 2008
Meta-analysis is the quantitative synthesis of information from several studies. It is applicable to a variety of study designs in genetics, from family-based linkage studies and population-based association studies to genome-wide scans and genome-wide association studies. By combining relevant evidence from many studies, statistical power is increased

Meta-analysis of SUMO1 [PDF]

open access: yesBMC Research Notes, 2008
An abundantly growing body of literature implicates conjugation of SUMO in the regulation of many proteins and processes, yet the regulation of SUMO pathways is poorly understood. To gain insight into the players in the SUMO1 pathway I have performed an in-silico co-expression meta-analysis of SUMO1, comparing many different multi-microarray studies of

Meta-analysis and evidence

open access: yesControlled Clinical Trials, 1989
Meta-analysis is the science of combining evidence from different studies, but traditional statistical techniques contain neither a formal definition nor a measure of evidence. It is argued in this paper that the log-likelihood ratio, as a measure of the "weight of evidence," can be a very useful tool in the meta-analysis.
